2016 Queensland Oaks Odds and Betting Update

A talented and capacity field of three-year-old fillies has been confirmed for Saturday’s 2016 Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Falkenberg has returned to racing in great form this time and remains outright $6.50 favourite in 2016 Queensland Oaks betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Falkenberg has been a reasonably consistent performer for Peter and Paul Snowden through her entire racing career so far; posting two wins and three minors through only eight competitive starts.

Beating a classy field to the line in the Schweppes BM67 (1600m) on March 28th, the More Than Ready filly tan fourth in the talent-rich Schweppes BM78 (1500m) before making a commendable transition to black type company when fourth in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) on May 7th.

Having since finished seventh in the Group 2 The Roses (2000m) a fortnight ago, Falkenberg will leave from the ideal barrier 3 on Friday with Blake Shinn in the saddle.

Imposing Lass has interestingly drifted in 2016 Queensland Oaks betting markets, but remains sole occupant of the second line at a quote of $7.50.

Capping a strong debut campaign with her first career win in the Priced Contracting Maiden (1350m), the Makfi filly resumed this time for consecutive wins in the Ranvet BM67 (1400m) and Schweppes BM78.

Charging home to win the Gold Coast Bracelet, Imposing Lass ran on for a credible third in The Roses a fortnight ago, and appears as though she will relish a step up to a mile and a half on Saturday.

Imposing Lass will be partnered by in-form hoop Jason Collett and should find a good position off pace early in the Queensland Oaks from barrier 10.

Neither Dawnie Perfect nor Romantic Maid are yet to herald much interest in 2016 Queensland Oaks betting markets, but they remain locked on the third line at generous $8 quotes.

Winning the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) and finishing fourth in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) most notably in spring, Dawnie Perfect failed to make anything of an impact through her first three starts upon resuming this time.

Running fifth in the Gold Coast Bracelet, the Big Brown filly savaged the line for fifth in The Roses and is another runner that will enjoy a step up in distance this weekend.

An exciting prospect for kiwi trainer Roger James, Romantic Maid has claimed three wins and a minors through only six competitive starts so far.

Unlucky to lose her rider in the running of the Group 2 Valachi Downs Championship Stakes (2100m) on April 23rd, the High Chaparral filly debuted in Australia for third in the More Than Ready BM75 (1900m) before taking out the PKF BM70 (2000m) by a length on May 18th.

The Roses winner Kebede ($11) and proven performer Chabaud ($12) both represent terrific value, while Sebring Sally continues to firm in the days leading up to jump, and currently figures as a clear $17 2016 Queensland Oaks market mover.
