2015 Caulfield Stakes Odds Update

The price on Chris Waller’s Sydney raider Kermadec to bring his Group 1 winning form to Melbourne in this weekend’s Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes 2015 are easing but the four-year-old is still the top fancy for the Cox Plate lead-up on Caulfield Guineas Day.

There are only eight weight-for-age hopefuls facing off in this year’s edition of the $400,000 Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes (2000m), which runs as Caulfield Race 6 at 3:55pm (AEST) this afternoon in Melbourne.

Of the eight in the mix half are at single figures to win through Ladbrokes.com.au who are offering an incredible Best Tote or SP + 20% on every single race on the Caulfield card!

Leading the Caulfield Stakes odds at $3.10 is Waller’s Teofilo stallion Kermadec who has eased out from $3 to become the fifth favourite in seven years to win the traditional lead-up into the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m).

Kermadec boasts Group 1 wins in the Doncaster Mile and George Main Stakes over the Randwick mile, but is yet to race over further than 1600m and no George Main Stakes winner has backed up directly into the Caulfield (Yalumba) Stakes to win since Lonrho (2003).

Also drifting out in the Caulfield Stakes betting markets are the likes of the Gai Waterhouse-trained Doomben Cup winning French import Pornichet ($6 out to $6.50), the New Zealand-trained ATC Derby winner Mongolian Khan ($8.50 out to $10) who is in flying form back down under this prep and the big easer Contributer ($4.60 out to $10).

Enjoy a juicy Best Tote or SP + 20% on your winnings on EVERY race this Caulfield Guineas Day in Melbourne through Ladbrokes!

After opening so short in the markets, the odds on the John O’Shea-trained Ranvet Stakes – Chipping Norton Stakes double winner in the autumn Contributer are now out to double figures.

He comes off a sixth in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) on September 26 at the track, which has produced two of the past three Caulfield Stakes winners, and he boasts five wins and a third from six previous runs over the distance.

The big Caulfield Stakes market mover meanwhile backed in from $12 to $7 is the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained $6 million earner Criterion.

The five-year-old, internationally-performed Sebring stallion hasn’t raced back in Australia since the autumn when defeating triple Melbourne Cup runner-up Red Cadeaux home in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) over this distance in Sydney.

Since then he’s had three runs over season, the latest of which was a sixth when carting a hefty 60kg behind Arabian Queen in the Group 1 Juddmonte Stakes (2092m) at York on August 19.

The money is pouring in for him now to return to his winning ways back in Oz.

Check out the latest Caulfield Stakes 2015 betting odds below, prices open online at the country’s premier sportsbook Ladbrokes.com.au who are offering Best Tote or SP + 20% on all Caulfield Guineas Day races plus an Extra 50% on your very first Fixed Odds winner in Races 1 – 5 on the same card!
