Talented filly Bring Me The Maid returned to the races with an impressive win in the 2014 Silver Shadow Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Bring Me The Maid was settled towards the tail of the field by jockey Luke Nolen and showed an impressive turn-of-foot to storm down the outside and score an impressive win running away from Memorial and Clover Lane.

Trainer Peter Moody was denied a Group 3 victory in unlucky circumstances with Better Land in the Up And Coming Stakes, but he was thrilled to take out the Silver Shadow Stakes with Bring Me The Maid and is now eyeing the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) with the Sebring filly.

“She has trained on nicely from her juvenile year and she has taken the next step,” Moody said.

“We are very pleased with her; her trials have been good in Queensland and then when she came down here and she was just too good for them.

“She has a bit on them and she is open to good improvement.

“We just have to work out where we go; the fillies have always had a lap on the colts as two-year-olds and is that going to be the case as three-year-olds?

“It would be hard not to go to the Golden Rose in three weeks or we have the fillies path or we can go back to Melbourne.

“There is a heap of options and we will keep them all open at this point.

“We will weigh it up in the next two weeks and we might have two good colts in the Group 1 in three weeks.”

Nolen made the trip to Sydney to partner Bring Me The Maid in the Silver Shadow Stakes and he timed his ride perfectly on the classy filly.

The leading Melbourne hoop said that he always felt that Bring Me The Maid had the measure of Memorial, but believes that the three-year-old will produce an even better performance on a dry surface.

“I tried to hold onto my filly as long as I could and he probably got into the race whilst I was doing that and I hadn’t asked her,” Nolen said.

“She responded well and she is a top class filly.

“This is a surface that she is capable in, but she is not at her best in it.”
