Rangirangdoo Scratched from 2010 Queen Elizabeth Stakes

In a shock turn of events, the Chris Waller-trained Rangirangdoo has been scratched from tomorrow’s $350,000 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick following Waller’s decision not to run his new stable star.

The 2010 Queen Elizabeth Stakes was shaping up to be a scintillating showdown between the top two finishers in last weekend’s Doncaster Mile, with winner Rangirangdoo again facing off against the Anthony Cummings-trained Road To Rock.

But spectators wanting to see the Pentire gelding in action again will have to wait until next spring now as Rangirangdoo, a winner of nine of his 19 career starts, has been spelled ahead of a Cox Plate campaign next season.

Rangirangdoo was the hot favourite for tomorrow’s race but Waller didn’t want to risk burning out or even injuring the Doncaster Mile winner by running him in two testing Group 1 features within a week.

Betting markets for tomorrow’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes have now opened right up with the new favourite, Monaco Consul, currently paying $3.60 through [iasbet].

But the AJC Derby third placegetter is not the clear choice by any means with Road To Rock and Doctor Freemantle both at $4 for a win and Palacio De Cristal trailing by just a dollar.
