Pericles has set himself up for a clash with the fellow Godolphin raced Tom Kitten in next month’s Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington after returning an impressive first-up winner in the 2026 Futurity Stakes results at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Day.

The consistent Street Boss six-year-old, trained by Bjorn Baker, took his career earnings to just shy of $7 million when continuing his good fresh record to break his Group 1 maiden in the $750,000 Futurity Stakes (1400m).
In his first run since placing second to Ceolwulf in the spring’s Champions Mile (1600m) at HQ, Pericles put the writing on the wall for a big autumn when given a perfectly timed ride by big race specialist Craig Williams to charge down the heavily backed favourite Treasurethe Moment and secure his first elite-level success at his 16th start.
“Amazingly satisfying,” Godolphin rep Andy Makiv told Racing.com.
“He’s been a fabulous horse. He’s a home-bred off Northwood Park, the stud here in Victoria by our fantastic stallion Street Boss.
“So, for him to achieve Group 1glory is wonderful for so many people and he’s just been a great horse, near on $7 million prize money, so fabulous.”
Williams settled Pericles in a stalking position sitting fifth on the final turn behind the front-running mare Treasurethe Moment ($1.90F) waiting for his moment to strike.
That moment came on the home straight when the odds-on favourite tired allowing Pericles to lift and mow her down for a three-quarter length win in booming fashion to hand Williams his fourth Futrity success since 2017 and third on the trot following his recent back-to-back victories on Mr Brightside (2024-25).
“It looks like he’s gone to another level,” Williams said of the Futurity Stakes winner.
“To win a Group 1, well done to all the team behind them and their patience.
“It was good (the ride).
“I got to go up and sit on him in a couple of jump outs up there. But he’s very much a pleasure to ride.
“He’s got me sitting on his back so obviously they all shine with that comparison, but he just oozes class, by his looks and the breeding of him.
“They’ve been doing this for a long time, they’re very successful at it. It’s great to win in the Royal Blue Colours of Sheikh Mohammed.”
Chris Waller’s always honest seven-year-old Buckaroo made up late ground in a terrific return to finish second while Treasurethe Moment held for third in the Futurity Stakes trifecta.
“Buckaroo went fantastic, similar to last preparation. There’s no reason why he can’t be back as good as ever this campaign,” the second placed hoop Jye McNeil said.
The Godolphin stable is now eyeing another Group 1 with Pericles set to clash with the defending champ in the same colours, Tom Kitten, at Flemington on March 7 in the $2 million All-Star Mile (1600m).
“I suspect they’ll be running in the same race at Flemington, so they’ll both get their chance,” Makiv said of the upcoming Pericles v Tom Kitten clash.
“May the best horse win or hopefully one of them wins— so obviously it’ll be a tough race and great to see this horse join the group one company and he can go to that race and take on Tom Kitten, it’ll be great.”
Tom Kitten won last year’s All-Star Mile on the back of a Futurity Stakes second.
Pericles has firmed notably in futures All-Star Mile betting at Ladbrokes.com.au from $15 to $4 and is now the co-favourite with Treasurethe Moment with Tom Kitten at $5.
