The pre-nomination price on Savvy Hallie to continue on and win Randwick’s Group 1 Flight Stakes on Epsom Handicap Day have been slashed following her good win in Saturday’s 2025 Silver Shadow Stakes results.

The Brad Widdup trained Hellbent filly went around at $3.50 in the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au for this year’s Group 2 $300,000 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) and the bonny filly was excellent on the bottomless Heavy (10) track on Winx Stakes Day.

After a win fresh at Newcastle on another rain-affected track when blitzing her rivals by over five lengths to break her maiden status, she got conditions to suit again in the Group 2 and was given a lovely ride by Jay Ford who continued his successful association on the autumn’s Percy Sykes runner-up.

Savvy Hallie jumped cleanly from barrier seven in the set weights plus penalties sprint before settling well midfield.

She tracked wide throughout but showed a powerful turn of foot at the 300m mark.

Savvy Hallie has firmed in from $26 to $13 in futures 2025 Flight Stakes odds!

Despite the testing conditions, she surged past the front running favourite Agarwood to win comfortably by over a length thanks to a well-judged ride by Ford, confirming her dominance on wet ground.

“I feel this is sort of her level. She is a genuine Group horse every day of the week,” Ford said after the win.

“Hopefully as she furnishes and gets older. She might take that next step again, but her tenacity and will to win, and just how genuine she is – she flies the machines, puts herself in a spot – so she gives herself every chance of success.

“You look at her record and it’s faultless. She deserved that win today. Last prep she ran a couple of seconds at stakes level behind some very good horses and today she got her turn, so I am glad to see that.”

Previously undefeated, Agarwood from the Waterhouse/Bott yard faded out to finish six lengths back sixth as the beaten $2.80 top fancy.

Claiming the opening leg of the Princess Series of races this spring, Savvy Hallie held off a fast finishing Within The Law with Bjorn Baker‘s Group 1 Champagne Stakes runner-up from the autumn eye-catching in her promising return.

Queen Of Clubs rounded out the trifecta in a distant third 3.5 lengths beaten by the winner.

“I don’t know about a plan. We were meant to race at Kembla, and we got the heavy 10. We didn’t go and the track looked alright. We waited until last week and ran her and then we had to back her up here, so big call. Benny, he was pushing to run today. It’s great for Brad and Benny, they have been big supporters for a long time and it’s just nice to have a filly like that,” Widdup told the media post-win.

“She was just brilliant. It’s great when they handle a track like this. Great call to run today so I will give them a bit of credit there for once. Very excited to see her do that. Brad really deserves a filly like this. Not me either, the owner.”

It was a deserving stakes victory for Savvy Hallie, who only broke her maiden status nine days earlier, and she will now continue on towards the second leg of the Princess Series targeting the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on September 6.

After that, the traditional path and next logical step will be the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) before the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) on October 4, although Widdup is unsure whether his emerging star will get a mile this prep.

“I’m not sure if she is going to be too brilliant for a mile. We will probably aim up in a fortnight and then see how we go,” he said.

Zougotcha (2022) was the last filly to complete the Silver Shadow – Flight Stakes double.

Futures 2025 Flight Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au on Savvy Hallie to be the next have tightened in from $26 to $13.
