Chris Waller‘s Golden Slipper runner-up by a whisker, Wodeton, is favourite in a tight Inglis Sires’ 2025 betting market to finally win at elite level as a two-year-old this weekend in Sydney.

The Championships are upon us on Saturday with Day 1’s bumper 10-race card packed full of talent including ten of the season’s top juveniles facing off in the Group 1 $1 million Inglis Sires’ (1400m).
Waller won the race two years ago with Militarize and returns with this year’s favourite, Wootton Bassett colt Wodeton heading the markets at $2.70 through Ladbrokes.com.au.
He is yet to run outside the money in his four career starts but hasn’t been able to win since a successful debut at Rosehill by a big margin in early January that caused him to shoot to the top of all-in Golden Slipper betting.
The youngster has been consistent but winless since coming devastatingly close to glory last time out when narrowly denied by Marhoona in the Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper (1200m).
He gets his chance to atone over further in the Inglis Sires’ now with Ryan Moore aboard from barrier nine.
The 2021 Inglis Sires’ winner Anamoe improved on a lead-up second in the Golden Slipper, a feat Wodeton is tipped to repeat this year.
The danger occupying the second line of Inglis Sires’ betting on the weekend is the Kris Lees trained Rivellino ($4.20) in gate six with Hugh Bowman riding.
The son of Too Darn Hot is going great guns winning the lucrative $2 million Inglis Millennium here two back before securing a narrow but convincing win in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes on March 1.
He then contested the Golden Slipper and was far from disgraced crossing 2.4 lengths back fourth with an eye-catching late run.
Set to relish the extra 200m on the weekend he won’t run out of time again and should also enjoy a return to his preferred Randwick track getting the room he needs to finish strongly.
The other best fancied at Inglis Sires’ odds of $4.60 looking the value is the unbeaten Vinrock.
Vinrock looks the potential value out for a hat-trick to remain undefeated come Saturday afternoon.
This Matt Laurie trained I Am Invincible certainly knows how to win.
The stable won Tuesday’s Vinery Stud Stakes with a filly who had never raced in Sydney before, and plenty of punters think this two-year-old can do something similar on the weekend.
He won at Pakenham on debut by a big margin with 58kg before rising notably in grade to salute in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ over this 1400m distance at Flemington by an equally impressive two lengths.
Looking like he handled the Sydney way okay in a recent hit-out when second in a Randwick trial a few days ago, Mark Zahra stays on and he’s in good form too with barrier one a further boost.
Further down the markets the others out for an upset at longer odds include the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott trained Group 2 placed filly Bellazaine ($10) taking on the boys again after a Golden Slipper eighth, last start Moonee Valley winning Ole Kirk colt Prestige Forever ($11), and the Ciaron Maher trained Group 3 Pago Pago third placed State Visit ($11) who is another son of Wootton Bassett.
The 2025 Inglis Sires’ gets the Group 1 races in Sydney on Saturday underway as Randwick Race 6 at 3:20pm (AEDT).
