Nominations for a host of the autumn majors are now out including those for the 2025 Queen Elizabeth Stakes which drew 71 of the season’s best WFA horses led in all-in betting by Cox Plate champion mare Via Sistina.

Trainer Chris Waller prepares a bumper 23 early entries for the Group 1 $5 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) which headlines the Sydney racing action on April 12 on Day 2 of The Championships.
Waller chases his sixth win in the lucrative middle-distance clash and his first since the Winx three-peat (2016-18).
His standout nominee in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2025 entries is Via Sistina who is set to return to racing this weekend in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m).
The eight-length Cox Plate champion at The Valley last October strung together three elite level wins to see out her brilliant spring campaign and looks every chance to pick up where she left off.
Last autumn she saluted in her down under debut in the Group 1 Ranvet before a second to runaway winner Pride Of Jenni in the Queen Elizabeth.
This season the now seven-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock is tipped to improve and salute in one of the country’s richest races.
Current pre-field Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have Via Sistina at $2.20 as the dominant early favourite.
The Joe Pride trained Ceolwulf ($7) and UK raider Dubai Honour ($8) are the current post-nomination dangers in Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting this autumn.
Tavistock four-year-old Ceolwulf won the Group 1 Epsom Handicap – King Charles III Stakes double last prep at Royal Randwick and also gets his autumn underway in a small but star-studded Apollo Stakes field on Saturday.
Dubai Honour returns to Australia having claimed the Ranvet Stakes – Queen Elizabeth Stakes double back in 2023
The Pride Of Dubai gelding recently won the Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in Paris to score his first Group 1 win in Europe.
If successful in this year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes he will become the first two-time champ on non-successive years since Intergaze (1997 & 1999).
William Haggas is set to bring a number of key international runners to Australia chasing the autumn Group 1s and along with Dubai Honour also nominated Al Mubhir and Desert Hero for the Queen Elizabeth.
Further adding to the international flavour in the Queen Elizabeth 2025 is Japan’s Geoglyph who is being kept safe in early markets at $13 for a successful bid down under.
Ciaron Maher’s reigning Queen Elizabeth Stakes champion Pride Of Jenni, who won last year by over six lengths in a barnstorming all-the-way performance, is also nominated for a title defence and is at a current quote of $15 after two disappointing runs at the end of her spring campaign.
Other notable nominees include Maher’s Caulfield Cup winner Duke De Sessa, reigning Underwood winner Buckaroo for Waller, and Group 1 winning imported mare Moira yet to run for Waller in Australia.
The 2025 Queen Elizabeth Stakes first acceptances close on Tuesday March 11, 2025.
