The countdown to Australia’s second richest horse race is on, and below punters can find our exclusive Races.com.au two-word Golden Eagle 2024 form guide.

There’s a lucrative $10 million in prize money up for grabs as well as the honour of winning the four-year-old’s feature in Sydney at Rosehill Gardens ahead of Saturday afternoon’s 2024 Melbourne Cup field and barrier draw release after the Derby Day racing at Flemington.

The Japanese raider Ascoli Piceno may have drawn out in gate 17 for the ‘Magic Man’ Joao Moreira but remains the firm favourite in the Golden Eagle odds online at $4 through Ladbrokes to overcome the alley and go back-to-back for Japan.

We’ve got a host of other in-form four-year-olds vying for the big prize including Chris Waller‘s Group 1 winning mare Joliestar and the undefeated French galloper Lazzat.

Punters are also coming for another consistent Territories gelding with Craig coming off a Toorak Handicap second.

To help racing fans separate the genuine Golden Eagle contenders from the potential pretenders in the rich showdown, below is our succinct summery of each horse’s winning (or losing!) chances.
