The line-up of fillies potentially heading towards the 2021 Flight Stakes next month became clearer this week with official nominations for the October 2 showdown attracting 59 early entries.

Racing NSW took nominations for a host of the upcoming Sydney Spring Racing Carnival majors including all three Group 1 features on Epsom Handicap Day at Royal Randwick.
The Group 1 $750,000 Darley Flight Stakes (1600m) brings the Princess Series of races to an end and all-in betting on the mile classic post-nominations has the Chris Waller-trained She’s All Class as the narrow $8 favourite through Ladbrokes.com.au.
Waller chases his second Flight Stakes victory in three years following a 2019 win with Funstar and his I Am Invincible filly She’s All Class is one of six entries for the stable along with the likes of progressive Maurice filly Morioka and Queensland expat Hinged.
She’s All Class was good in the summer when third in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast, before a second in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) in late February.
Things didn’t go her way first-up when eighth in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m), but it was an eye-catching run that saw her under two lengths beaten and suggested improvement to come over further.
It is a tight affair in futures betting on the Flight Stakes this season with three fillies all following as the equal $9 second favourites: Four Moves Ahead, Jamaea and Zouzarella.
The John Sargent-trained Sweet Embrace Stakes winner, Four Moves Ahead was a dual Group 1 fourth-placegetter as a juvenile in the Golden Slipper and Inglis Sires’ before returning with a first-up third in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m).
She too was just out of the money in a blanket finish in the Furious Stakes running fifth from the outside barrier (13 of 13) and lost few admirers after that performance.
Robert & Luke Price’s Headwater filly Jamaea made a name for herself during ‘The Championships’ when winning the Group $1 million 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at double-figures.
She franked the form with a close first-up fourth in the Silver Shadow, then was back to her best as the underrated winner of the Furious Stakes at $20 odds.
Zouzarella meanwhile brings a different form line into a Flight Stakes bid, the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Zoustar filly currently undefeated.
On debut in August she won over 1200m at The Valley before securing a Black-Type win at the same track on September 4 with a two-length success in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) to put herself in the frame for a potential Group 1 bid in Sydney.
Next best at $10 is Mac ‘N’ Cheese, the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Sebring filly having won in the wet impressively in Adelaide over the winter before a fourth fresh to Zouzarella in the Atlantic Jewel.
Other notable Flight Stakes nominations include Furious Stakes third-placegetter Mallory, and the consistent Godolphin-raced Heresy who ran second in the Group 3 Quezette and third in the Group 3 HDF McNeil Stakes at Caulfield this campaign.
