Jockey Tegan Harrison rated and rode the John Zielke-trained Dreams Aplenty to perfection in the first black-type feature on A.D. Hollindale Stakes Day scoring an all-the-way win in the 2018 Gold Coast Cup results.

The Bundall-based Dream Ahead four-year-old, Dreams Aplenty, looked a well-weighted chance carrying 54.5kg in the Listed $100,000 XXXX Gold Coast Cup (1400m).
He dropped back from 58.5kg first-up when third over the distance and narrowly beaten behind Mishani Honcho at the Sunshine Coast on April 14.
Harrison had the ride then and continued her association on the up-and-comer who enjoyed his first stakes success since taking out the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1600m) at Eagle Farm in April last year.
One of the best out of the barriers, Dreams Aplenty made his own luck quickly taken up on the speed by Harrison to lead the Gold Coast Cup field around.
After settling in front the $5.50 shot in Gold Coast Cup betting at Ladbrokes.com.au set a solid pace taking up the running from Rhyme Nor Rhythm who sat second on the outside of Moher.
Dreams A Plenty kept a narrow lead on the turn and presented as a sitting duck on the straight with his rivals coming for him late.
He couldn’t be caught however and held on for a tough win over the fast finishing Northern Meteor five-year-old Aqua Vite ($5), the local Scott Morrisey-trained track and distance specialist charging home down the outside making up plenty of late ground.
Rounding out the all-Queenslander Gold Coast Cup trifecta in third having been nailed right on the line by Aqua Vite was Tony Gollan’s veteran seven-year-old Charlie Boy ($26) who was brave in defeat.
“What a tough, tough horse,” winning trainer Zielke said post-race.
“Tegan rode him a treat…Tegan’s recognised the horse really, really well early.
“She rates the horse fantastically
“That’s how he destroys them [from up front]…he makes his own luck but you could also say he’s a sitting duck.”
As for next-up options this Queensland Winter Racing Carnival, Zielke said the Gold Coast Cup winner Dreams Aplenty was crying out for a mile (1600m) but in what race the trainer was unsure.
One option is the weight-for-age Group 3 $125,000 Lord Mayor’s Cup (1600m) at Doomben on May 26 or possible a trip interstate down to Sydney.
“He’s going to go to the mile we’ve just got to find a suitable race for him,” Zielke said.
“We’ll have a look, we might even look over the border in Sydney.
“As you’ve seen he’s looking for more ground.”
