Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2018 Tips & Odds Update: Winx Beats Who?

Only a catastrophe sees Winx beaten on Saturday in the 2018 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick, but what two horses will finish in the money behind the champion mare in the $4 million feature?

Winx

The world record holding 17-time Group 1 winner faces nine rivals in her bid for a 25th win on the trot this weekend in the Group 1 Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), the same race Winx rounded out her autumn campaign in last year.

All Queen Elizabeth Stakes tips have the Chris Waller-trained daughter of Street Cry on top, success seeing her emulate former sprint star Black Caviar’s winning streak and take her incredible career earnings up in excess of $18.88 million.

The latest Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have Winx at $1.16 and firming.

She’s not been winning as emphatically as before, but she’s never looked like losing either including her lead-up wins this prep doing the same Chipping Norton – George Ryder double she did in 2017.

Winx is the only one the punters want in Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting with everything else on the drift in the markets.

Earlier we published our exclusive Winx Next Race: 2018 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Form Guide & Betting Preview, our trifecta tip for the classic below based on the facts and stats uncovered.

Our 2018 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Trifecta Tip is #9 Winx from #7 Comin’ Through and #2 Gailo Chop

1st

#9 Winx ($1.16)

Winx wins. It really is that simple. She’s overcome plenty of obstacles over the 12 months or so, so even if a few things work against the champion, she will take the power of beating. Plenty of these rivals have tried and tried to defeat her and now it’s a matter of running for second at best. She’s not lost any of her shine, the wins keep rolling in without Winx being pressed and she adds an incredible 18th Group 1 win to the record here. Same Group 1 treble as last autumn and all the facts work in her favour including her ace Win (82%), Place (91%), Randwick (18:14-3-0) and 2000m (7:6-0-0) records. Better than bank interest.

2nd

#7 Comin’ Through ($41)

Love the place price for Waller’s other chance in the race, the continually underrated Comin’ Through. Drawn gate two, this four-year-old is a $1.1 million earner in his own right and has finished out of the money just twice in eight Randwick runs at the track (8:2-2-2). Winning form only extends to a mile, so the distance is the obvious query, but he was only two lengths off Happy Clapper in the Doncaster after doing plenty throughout and gets another go. WFA doesn’t work to his advantage so needs to improve, but is fit and doing plenty right suggesting he can chase home his star stablemate.

3rd

#2 Gailo Chop ($15)

Darren Weir has two in the race with Humidor shorter in betting, but this French import was good last time out when fourth only one and a half-lengths off Almandin in the Tancred Stakes (2400m). Drops in distance and that’s the key with his top 2000m record (13:7-1-0). Won the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) by three lengths the start before and looks a livewire place hope in his Randwick debut on Saturday. Well beaten by Winx in the 2015 and 2017 Cox Plates, but can finish closer this time around.
