A dominant first up win by Ravi in the Group 3 $125,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill today has given trainer Peter Snowden plenty of options for the mare for the rest of the Spring Carnival.
Snowden, who trains with his son Paul, is not certain where Ravi will have her next Spring start but said there were plenty of options in both Sydney and Melbourne in the coming months.
“She won with authority and there are Stakes races everywhere in the next two months here and in Melbourne,” Snowden said.
Snowden also hatched a plan to have Ravi perched on the pace this campaign after she had no luck racing back in the field at her previous campaigns.
Winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy had Ravi ($7.50) in a forward position in the run and she stretched out nicely in the straight to record a two lengths win over Perizada ($17) with the unlucky Daysee Doom ($7) running on for third.
Favourite Bonny O’Reilly ($4) loomed up in the straight but faded to finish fifth.
“A gun ride and we wanted to be a bit positive,” Snowden said.
“She stepped well and looked like she was going to get caught three deep but Kerrin persevered and got into a great spot and travelled really well and a lot to like about the last 200m, she was very strong.”
