The countdown to the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes is well and truly on in the form of the Preludes on Saturday at Caulfield Racecourse, betting tips and updated odds on the Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude 2017 found below.
Nine promising two-year-old fillies take to the track on CF Orr Stakes Day in Race 3 for the $200,000 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Prelude (F) over 1100m and four of the runners are under double figures in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Currently leading the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude odds at $2.80 is the undefeated Lindsay Park-trained Catchy chasing a third win from as many career starts.
She jumps from barrier seven with Craig Williams aboard once again, the flying daughter of Fastnet Rock coming off a smart 2.25 length win at the track / distance from early January.
Her biggest danger shapes-up as market mover Limestone ($3.10) from the Darren Weir stables who took out the Listed Blue Diamond Preview on Australia Day over 1000m.
So will the two best in betting get the job done or will there be a shake-up on markets for the end-of-month $1.5 million Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes with an upset Prelude win on Saturday?
Too much to like about the lead-up run from this class filly who doesn’t even look close to having peaked. Improvement to come, right stable, Williams is on again and even with a few unknowns in the race she is back to a field of fillies after cruising home over the boys including the smart runner-up Property. Ready for 1200m, but should be first past the post again here late from the wider alley (7 of 9).
Really nice value on offer for this Sepoy filly. Bred for the Blue Diamond being a daughter of the 2011 winner and has shown good ability. Black-Type third on debut at Sandown and runner-up first-up over 1000m at Moonee Valley. Should suit Caulfield and is draw ideally (2). Surprise of the field.
From barrier three Weir’s Helmet filly could prove hard to rundown. She is two-from-three to date and won the Preview at this track narrowly last time out. Money coming in early for her and she’s a danger with the right run and progression chasing the double.
