The Godolphin owned Exosphere will now head to Melbourne to chase another Group 1 win in the $1m BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10.

Winning trained John O’Shea has mapped out the Group 3 $175,000 BECK Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26 as the Lonhro colt’s next race start.

“It was a nice win. It was a nice result,” O’Shea said.

“We always had in our mind to go to Caulfield for the Prelude. We will see how he pulls up and get him down to Melbourne and see if he can be effective around the bend there.”

Winning rider James McDonald gave Exosphere a gun run behind the leader Speak Fondly and when the gap opened up at the top of the straight the result was put beyond doubt as soon as he skipped to the front.

“There was always going to be a gap there and you know he has a great turn of foot and he is hard to run down,” O’Shea said.

“He has grown into himself. He is by this great sire Lonhro that the boss has and he is in for a great season I think.”

“A horse like Exosphere has international appeal and you never know where he will end up.”

Exopshere was sent out the $3.10 favourite and responded with a two and a quarter lengths win over the front runner Speak Fondly ($4.40) with Sebring Sun ($26) making up good ground from the back to be half a length away in third spot.

Second favourite Press Statement ($3.70) from the Chris Waller stable was poised midfield in the run but Tye Angland had no luck finding a hole in the straight and ran into trouble at the 300m putting him completely out of contention before finishing in fifth position.
