Belmont Park Racecourse continues its Winter Racing action this weekend with the H.G. Bolton Sprint 2014 taking centre stage in WA, betting tips for the handicap clash detailed below.

Due to jump at 4:02pm (local) as Belmont Race 7, this year’s $100,000 Listed H.G. Bolton Sprint (1200m) field features 12 promising runners.

Favourite to win at a current quote of $3.90 in the latest HG Bolton Sprint odds at Ladbrokes.com.au is Celebrity Miss with a gun barrier three draw.

William Pike has the mount on the Grant Williams-trained More Than Ready mare who has won two of her past three starts.

He rode her to victory over this track and distance two back and replaces Brad Parnham who was aboard the five-year-old last start on July 12 when Celebrity Miss ran fifth to Pininci in the Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m).

Also at single figures to win are then four other hopefuls including Simon Miller’s resuming stakes winner Hussy By Choice ($5) and the Neville Parnham-trained Snitzel four-year-old Dominating ($6) down in distance off a fourth over 1300m here last Saturday.

Beaufine Stakes winner Pininci ($8) and sixth placegetter first-up in that race Dueton ($8) then round out the hopefuls under $10.

So will this year’s HG Bolton Sprint winner come from one of the top five?

Or is there an upset result on the cards from the likes of early market mover Settle Strada ($11) who is a stable mate to Pininci?

#6 Dominating ($6)

Think there’s value to be had backing the third pick Dominating at $6 to win, the consistent galloper getting in on the 54kg minimum and drawn well in barrier five. Snitzel gelding has great record at the track and distance (4-2-1-0), and is back in distance here. While they have form up to a mile and this distance could be short of their best, Parnham brings them back from 1300m when fourth over that distance last Saturday and they will relish coming back from 59kg there when defeated only one and a half lengths.

#2 Settle Strada ($11)

Money is starting to come for the longer priced of Harrison’s hopefuls, and while their better fancied stable mate Pininci beat them home in the Beaufine, think they can improve and run top three here. The Strada five-year-old was beaten three lengths last time out but drop in distance and have an outstanding record over the 1200m here with five wins from six starts.

#4 Celebrity Miss ($3.90)

Short priced favourite for this and her good barrier, great jockey and lead-up form suggest why. Think it will be close but she’s been up a while and her tough run out wide in the Beaufine could have taken a bit out of her.
