Group 1 winners Hay List and Mrs Onassis are set to clash in the Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday after both were included in the final field for the Group 3 event.

Injury-plagued Hay List will be returning to the races for the first time since he finished tenth behind his great rival Black Caviar in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) in April while Mrs Onassis is coming off her disappointing first-up effort in the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) in July.
Trainer Gerald Ryan is hopeful that Mrs Onassis can return to form in the Concorde Stakes this weekend and told AAP earlier in the week that she has performed well since her first-up flop.
“She won a barrier trial last week and has worked very well since,” Ryan said.
“At this stage she will run in the Concorde and then the Shorts.
“Beyond that I don’t know, there is still time for Gerry (owner Gerry Harvey) to decide if he wants her to go to stud but I’m hoping she will come back for the autumn.”
The return of Hay List is set to dominate the headlines in the lead-up to the Concorde Stakes but there are a number of other interesting runners in the final field including classy colt Whittington.
Whittington was set to return to racing for the first time since his thirteenth place finish in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) but he was scratched just before the race after injuring himself in the barriers.
The Tale Of The Cat colt performed fairly in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm last Friday and is set to make his open racing debut this weekend.
Another colt who will be competing against older horses for the first time is 2013 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) winner Kuroshio, who returned to the races when finishing at the tail of the field in the San Domenico Stakes, while stablemate Sessions will step up to Group level for the first time.
Rounding out the Concorde Stakes final field is Clarry Connors-trained Decision Time, July Sprint winner See The World, Brisbane-based gelding Delago Bolt, exciting colt I’m All The Talk and the consistent Golden Sunshine.
