If the punters have their way Gai Waterhouse will take out just about every race at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday including the Reginald Allen Quality 2012 where the money is coming hard and fast for her lightly-raced filly Urban Groove.
The $100,000 Listed Reginald Allen Quality (1200m) is due to run as Rosehill Race 7 at 4:40pm on Saturday with a smart field of 11 three-year-old fillies engaged.
Current top elect in the bookmaker.com.au markets for the feature is nicely-drawn Urban Groove (barrier four) in from $3.10 to $2.90 over the past few hours, the daughter of Charge Forward having had just one race to date.
On debut Urban Grove blew her competition away when winning over 1200m at Kembla Grange on September 15 by five lengths, the merit of that win to be put to the test when she steps up to black type company in the Reginald Allen this weekend.
Two other young fillies are also under $10 in the latest Reginald Allen Quality odds at bookmaker.com.au with the Chris Waller-trained Here De Princess ($4.40) and Gerald Ryan’s Flying Snitzel ($6.50).
Dehere filly Here De Princess, in barrier eight with Corey Brown to ride, like the favourite is also undefeated having won her opening two career starts over 1000m at Wyong with Brown in the saddle.
Flying Snitzel meanwhile has nine career starts to her name having raced exclusively in Group company in her seven most recent runs.
Winner of the Group 2 The Schwppervescence (1400m) at Rosehill in April, Flying Snitzel also ran fourth to current 2012 Cox Plate favourite Pierro in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) last season.
This time in she has had three runs but has failed to finish better than fourth.
Last seen crossing sixth to Longport in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) at Randwick last weekend, Flying Snitzel is sure to appreciate the drop back to 1200m here against seemingly easier company.
Other notable hopefuls that have claims to cause an upset include Waller’s resuming Dubawi grey Catkins ($10) with barrier 11 to overcome, the Haweks-trained Jolie Bay ($10) coming off a first-up win at Hawkesbury, John O’Shea’s daughter of Redoute’s Choice Don’t Blink ($11) last seen finishing fourth in the Listed Heritage Stakes, and the Gerald Ryan-trained Cavalry Rose ($13) who was eighth in the Golden Slipper as a juvenile.
