This Saturday a very wet Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is set to host one of the crucial 2012 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival lead-ups, the Patinack Farm Silver Slipper Day, and to help our readers shake off the rainy day blues we have our exclusive Rosehill race tips for the meeting below.
The Races.com.au crew have our fingers crossed that the eight top races scheduled to run on Silver Slipper Day will indeed go ahead with concerns regarding the deterioration of the track.
In the latest Rosehill track report from the Australian Turf Club’s Executive General Manager of Racecourses Lindsay Murphy, the course proper is rated a Heavy (9) after 18mls fell overnight.
A final track inspection will be taken Saturday morning at 6am (NSW) prior to the meeting’s scheduled start time of 1:00pm.
Rain, hail or shine punters can rely on Races.com.au to provide them with the weekend’s best metro betting tips, and on the Australian through-and-through bookmaker.com.au to provide them with the best markets.
Three Group races highlight the Rosehill program on Saturday including the day’s marquee event, the $200,000 Group 2 Patinack Farm Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m).
All eyes will be on the Silver Slipper field as the winner will enjoy a ballot-free ride straight into the iconic $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) on April 7, smart two-year-olds vying for this prize including Gai Waterhouse’s stakes-winning colt Lonhro Pierro and the untapped Gerald Ryan-trained Assassinate.
Other features include the 2012 Randwick Guineas-guide, the $200,000 Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) running as Race 6 at 4:20pm where Golden Rose winner Manawanui leads the bookmaker.com.au markets at a quote of $2.
With so many top races and so many promising horses in the mix, punters need not have a hard time backing the Rosehill winners thanks to Races.com.au’s insider Silver Slipper Stakes Day tips below.
Rosehill Gardens – Saturday March 3, 2012
Some really smart three-year olds here but Peter Snowden’s Ad Valorem filly Detours is the deserved favourite. She has form on Heavy ground and will have come on from her first-up second on Slow ground at the track three weeks back. Aerobatics is yet to win second-up, but have good Heavy track from so definite pick for the quinella.
With these conditions over 1800m, don’t want anything drawn on the inside or carrying too much weight that’s why we fancy an upset over the favourite Charing Cross and have Court Connection rated special to win.
Al’s Magic Miss was outclassed last start but she drops right back in class here and the 1100-metres will suit better, she has class and wet track form and can bounce back.

This is the hardest race of the day for the punters with over half the field at single-figures. Hard to split them and their form for this but surly Mr Make Believe can make it happen and improve on their last-start fifth over this track and distance on a Slow (7) against a tougher field last-start?
