The 2011 Kewney Stakes has attracted a capacity final field of 16 three-year-old fillies plus two emergencies, all keen to face off in Flemington Race 5 when it jumps at 1:55pm (AEDST) this Saturday March 12.
Brazilian Pulse is the clear early favourite in the Kewney Stakes betting odds, last year’s Crown Oaks winning filly paying $4.80 through leading online bookmaker Luxbet.
First-up for the season, the Michael Moroney-trained Brazilian Pulse enjoyed a sensational spring campaign that included a win in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Derby Day before she stormed home to take out the 2010 Crown Oaks.
Brazilian Pulse has a brilliant record at Flemington having won two of her three starts and placed second in her other run here and should race well fresh having won her only other first-up run to date.
She has also drawn ideally for the Kewney Stakes, set to jump from barrier three with champion hoop Craig Williams aboard, further adding to her claims to win Flemington Race 5 on Saturday.
The Races.com.au think Brazilian Pulse has the class and form for this and we are sticking with the favourite in the Kewney Stakes, still at a very backable price through Luxbet.
To finish second behind Brazilian Pulse in the Kewney Stakes we are tipping #2 Sistine Angel, currently rated a $10 chance at Luxbet.
Andrew Nobelt’s in-form Testa Rossa filly resumed this season win a disappointing 14th place finish in the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, but improved greatly second-up having run third to Pinker Pinker last start in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) on February 26.
Sistine Angel drops back in the weights this start, is well suited to the track and distance and with the pace on should race competitively.
Finishing off the winning Kewney Stakes Trifecta is Sayahailmary, Peter Moody’s Keep The Faith filly coming off a game second in the Angus Armanasco Stakes and a good pick after coming up trumps with barrier one for Saturday.
For punters wanting to get in on the exciting exotic markets open on the Kewney Stakes through Luxbet, our other pick of the field to add into the First Four and Box Trifecta bets is Kiwi filly Twilight Savings.
