One of the most anticipated features on the Blue Diamond Stakes Day card this Saturday at Caulfield is the $400,000 Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and the 2011 Oakleigh Plate betting odds are now out.

Catapulted has opened as the favourite in the 2011 Oakleigh Plate betting markets
Catapulted has opened as the clear $4.60 favourite in the Oakleigh Plate odds at Luxbet, Mark Kavanagh’s Catbird five-year-old coming off a win in the Group 3 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on February 12.
Due to jump from barrier eight on Saturday with Michael Rodd in the mount, Catapulted is the 58kg top weight.
The weight will be no issue for Catapulted who carried the same to a good one length victory over fellow Oakleigh Plate rival Avenue in the Rubiton first-up for the season.
Dual Group 1 winning colt Star Witness is the equal $6.50 second favourite at Luxbet to become the 2011 Oakleigh Plate winner.
Early money coming in for Star Witness saw them shorten from their opening quote of $7.50 only moments ago.
Star Witness has a wide barrier 10 draw to contend from, but the Danny O’Brien-trained son of Starcraft has the class to overcome this.
Winner of the Blue Diamond Stakes here 12 months ago, Star Witness is second-up for the season in the Oakleigh and will have advantaged from their first run when third to Enjin Number Nine in the Listed Manfred Stakes (1300m) on February 9.
In the Manfred Star Witness had 59kg on their back, they drop back to 56kg in the Oakleigh further adding to their claims to become a triple Group 1 winner on Saturday.
Equal second favourite in the market is Undeniably.
Undeniably opened at a quote of $7.50 but has been quickly backed into $6.50.
Stablemate to favourite Catapulted, Undeniably looks a great chance here drawn ideally in barrier three and lightly-weighted with just 53.5kg.
The Fastnet Rock four-year-old is backing up from a narrow defeat in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on January 28 where they carried a hefty 58.5kg.
Only one other runner in the capacity 18-horse Oakleigh Plate field is at single-figure odds with First Command paying $7.50 as the third favourite through Luxbet.
The Lee Freedman-trained First Command has a good barrier four draw for the Group 1 sprint on Saturday, the Commands five-year-old coming off some nice form that includes a win in the Listed Cleary Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in January.
Other horses in the 2011 Oakleigh Plate market include:
- Avenue ($12 Luxbet) – Peter Moody’s Anabaa mare drawn wide but still has claims after running a close second to Catapulted in the Rubiton last start
- Reward For Effort ($13 Luxbet) – Blue Diamond winner two years back, has a lot riding on this one and has suffered a wide draw, change of jockeys to bring a change of form?
- Solar Charged ($13 Luxbet) – Speedy daughter of Charge Forward was third in the Rubiton and can improve and possibly win with the inside running from barrier one here
- Faster Son ($15 Luxbet) – Consistent Gold Coast horse was sixth in the Rubiton, will have improved from the run, needs a lot of luck from extremely wide barrier
The 2011 Oakleigh Plate is scheduled as Caulfield Race 6 due to jump at 3:50pm (AEDST).
