Betting has opened on all the feature Flemington races on Saturday’s 2011 Lightning Stakes Day programme including the $200,000 Group 3 The Mittys Vanity (1400m).
Peter Moody’s classy Savabeel filly Do Ra Mi is the clear favourite to win the 2011 The Mittys Vanity.
Do Ra Mi is installed as the $2.15 top elect in The Mittys Vanity odds at Luxbet, drawn in barrier six and due to be ridden by Luke Nolen on Saturday.
Heading towards a start in the Group 1 Australian Guineas on March 5, Do Ra Mi is out to claim her third straight win following her blistering 10 length victory over 1170m on January 12 and her last start success in the Race-Tech Handicap (1200m) at Sandown Lakeside on February 2.
Saturday is shaping up as a beauty for Moody who also prepares the world’s top-rated sprinter Black Caviar, odds-on favourite to win the 2011 Lightning Stakes first-up.
Southern Speed is the second favourite in the Luxbet The Mittys Vanity betting markets paying $4.40.
Drawn in barrier nine, Morphettville-based filly Southern Speed has travelled to Victoria looking to keep her perfect career record intact having won both of her race starts to date in South Australia.
Two other The Mittys Vanity hopefuls are at single-figure odds in the early markets with Absolutely paying $5 and Shamrocker a $9.50 chance at Luxbet.
Coming up trumps with barrier two, lightly-raced Redoute’s Choice filly Absolutely is having just her third career start on Saturday and will be ridden by champion hoop Craig Williams.
Shamrocker has a strong record over The Mittys Vanity distance
Longer priced entries that could prove good value Place / Exotic bets include the David Hayes-trained Precious Lorraine ($17) drawn well in barrier two and Lee Freedman’s consistent galloper Becerra ($26).
The 2011 The Mittys Vanity is scheduled as Flemington Race 4 this Saturday, due to jump at 2:50pm (AEDST).
