One of the major attractions at the Betfair Park Sandown Hillside meet today is the $100,000 Listed Manfred Stakes (1300m), scheduled as Race 6 at 2:45pm (AEDST), and here we have the hottest 2011 Manfred Stakes Betting Tips for readers of Races.com.au.
Today’s Manfred Stakes field features seven three-year-old runners after #4 Dusty Star was an early scratching.
Dual Group 1 winner Star Witness is the odds-on favourite in the 2011 Manfred Stakes odds, currently paying a short $1.70 to win through Luxbet as they return to the track for the season.
Danny O’Brien’s champion Starcraft colt, winner of last year’s Blue Diamond Stakes, enjoyed more success during their spring campaign including their second elite level win in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.
Resuming in the Manfred, Star Witness most recently ran a respectable second behind superstar Black Caviar in the Patinack Farm Classic on November 6.
For today’s first-up assignment the favourite has come up trumps with barrier one and despite having been allocated with a hefty 59kg, has the talent to win by plenty here.
Our Manfred Stakes tip is to stick with the favourite.
To add some value to your Sandown Race 6 bets today we have selected our two other favourites from the field to finish in the money behind Star Witness.
Roughie of the field at $17 odds to win through Luxbet is Ascot galloper Mister Moneypenny.
This is a generous price on the Shane Edwards-trained gelding who has shown plenty of potential having won five of their eight career starts to date.
On January 26 Mister Moneypenny made their Victorian debut running ninth in the Zeditave Stakes, which is why they are at long odds for the Manfred.
However with a run outside of WA now up their sleeve, we are tipping Mister Moneypenny to rise today and put in a career best run.
For third place #6 Liveandletdie has good claims, drawn in barrier four the Mark Kavanagh-trained Street Cry colt is first-up for the season.
Having freshened up from their last start fifth in the Group 3 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 24, Liveandletdie will benefit from the drop back in distance here and with 55.5kg looks a good chance having carried 59kg and 57kg at their last two starts.
Luxbet have the best Manfred Stakes odds and betting markets open right now so get in early before prices shorten on today’s Sandown races!
