A cracker eight-race programme at Caulfield today is headlined by three Listed races the second of which is the $100,000 Manfred Stakes (1200m) running as Race 4 at 2:50pm (AEDST), and here we have the insider 2011 Manfred Stakes Race Tips.
The 2011 BMW Manfred Stakes has drawn a final field of eight three-year-olds with dual Group 1 winning colt Star Witness set to start the odds-on favourite in their first-up run for the season.
The talented son of Starcraft won the prestigious Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes as an unbeaten two-year-old at just their third career start.
Continuing to prove their potential, the Danny O’Brien-trained galloper returned in the spring last year and enjoyed another elite level win in the Group 1 Coomore Stud Stakes (1200m) before finishing a game, albeit four length away, runner-up behind superstar Black Caviar in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) on Emirates Stakes Day.
Resuming today in the Manfred with the ideal barrier one draw, Star Witness is the deserved favourite despite their hefty 59kg weight allocation.
There are some nice runners in the Manfred Stakes this year, but none with the same class and talent as Star Witness which is why our tip is to take him even as the odds-on today.

Star Witness will start the favourite for the 2011 Manfred Stakes at Caulfield tiday

Adding value to the one-two is Mister Moneypenny a $21 chance at Luxbet who has the ability to finish second behind Star Witness.
The Ascot-based gelding has produced five wins from their eight career starts, winning first-up this year at their home track before finishing a distant ninth in the Listed Zeditave Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on January 26.
This was their first look at a track outside of WA, so expect big improvement from them today which will shock many but not us and not you if you follow our tip.
Running third will be Liveandletdie, Mark Kavanagh’s Street Cry colt drawn well in barrier four and due to be ridden by Damien Oliver.
Finally, Mr Chard will run a close fourth, Dean Lawson’s Al Samer colt in career best form during the spring but without the first-up form to back them for the win.
