2011 John Dillon Stakes Betting & Odds
Caulfield Racecourse is set to come alive on Wednesday for their 2011 Australia Day Race meeting, and the odds and markets for all the day’s features including the $100,000 Listed John Dillon Stakes (1400m) are now out at leading bookmaker Luxbet.
Luxbet opened betting on the 2011 John Dillon Stakes this morning, with Danzylum the strong favourite in the market currently paying $2.80 to win.
There are nine horses in line for the John Dillon following the early scratching of #7 Huxssen.
Drawn well in barrier four, the Robbie Griffiths-trained Danzero seven-year-old has the ideal form for this having won the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) at Flemington last start on January 15.
Runner-up in the John Dillon 12 months ago, Danzylum is set to carry 57kg tomorrow, a 2kg increase from the weight they carried to victory in the Manifold.
Maxisun is the next shortest-priced entry in the John Dillon Stakes odds, sitting at a quote of $4.20 having drifted out from $4 at Luxbet.
Tony Vasil’s Choisir six-year-old Maxisun enjoyed a promising first-up third behind First Command at Caulfield back on January 8 in the Listed L.T. Cleary Stakes (1200m) and with a nice 53kg light-weight tomorrow is tipped to improve second-up.
Other gallopers in the market for the John Dillon Stakes this year include Wind Shear at $6 and Lady Gaga paying $7 through Luxbet.
Wind Shear will start from barrier eight, Dale Sutton’s Flying Spur six-year-old an excellent Place chance having finished second in the Listed Lord Stakes (1700m) at Caulfield on Boxing Day carrying 55kg and drops down to 53kg tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has drawn ideally with gate two, the Mick Price-trained four-year-old mare resuming after a disappointing last place finish on December 26 in the Listed Christmas Handicap at Morphettville.
The 2011 John Dillon Stakes will run as Race 6 at Caulfield on Wednesday, due to jump at 4:02pm (AEDST).
