The second race on the Emirates Stakes Day card at Flemington today is Race 2 – the $100,000 Masterfoods Condiments Plate (1600m) for four-year-olds and over – scheduled to take place at 11:50am (AEDST).
The 2010 Masterfoods Condiments Plate field features 13 gallopers following the scratching of #2 Macknuckle and #11 Bertonic.
In a wide open betting market a number of runners have genuine claims to win Flemington Race 2 today, with Launay the current $4.20 favourite through Luxbet.
The Peter Snowden-trained Launay enjoyed great success in the autumn placing second to Rothesay in the Queensland Guineas and then returned this season most recently claiming a gritty, hard earned victory over 1400m at Flemington.
However, with a number of other consistent runners in the field the Races.com.au team are tipping an upset and fancy Trader to win.
Flemington – Race 2 – Masterfoods Condiments Plate Tips
Races.com.au Favourite: #1 Trader – Rated Special to Win at $6.00 through Luxbet
Best Place Tips: #8 Launay and #4 Eraset – Luxbet
The Anthony Cummings-trained Trader is drawn ideally in barrier two for today and is coming off a sensational second place in the Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley, which he probably could have won if he hadn’t lost concentration.
Aside from Trader and the punters’ favourite Launay, the third runner we recommend adding into the Trifectas for value today is Eraset.
Danny O’Brien’s consistent Reset four-year-old Eraset took out the Sale Cup last start over the mile in a great, fast-paced ride and has only been beaten once over the 1600m.
