Find out who we’re backing to conquer the autumn’s weight-for-age championship!

A star-studded field of the season’s best WFA horses faces off in the 2025 Queen Elizabeth Stakes this weekend as Royal Randwick plays host to the undisputed heavyweight clash of the Autumn Carnival.

Chris Waller‘s outstanding mare Via Sistina is red-hot favourite in Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au to equal Winx’s record with a seventh Group 1 success for the season.

So, will the mighty Via make history? Or is there an upset pending from the likes of the William Haggas trained UK raider Dubai Honour coming off a win in the Tancred or even Ciaron Maher‘s two-length Australian Cup champ last time out Light Infantry Man?

Read on for our 2025 Queen Elizabeth Stakes tips and best bets on Randwick Race 8 at 3:55pm (AEST) on Saturday!

The Favourite: #12 Via Sistina ($2 at time of publish) – BET NOW

There’s no value taking Waller’s queen at her odds-on quote but finding it really hard not to back this mighty mare to enjoy a record-equaling 7th Group 1 win for the season.

She is absolutely flying now fourth-up and coming off back-to-back elite level Sydney victories. Just continues to thrive and improve and put the writing on the wall with her commanding 1.5 length Ranvet Stakes title defence last time out at Rosehill.

She had barrier one and James McDonald that day, a gate and star hoop she retains here.

Last autumn had her running a distant second to Pride Of Jenni in this race, but without the front-running mare to rain on her parade, she looks to have this year’s edition in the bag.

Has beaten the majority of the major players she faces on the weekend, has plenty of winning form at Randwick (4:2-1-1), and will relish getting up to 2000m now.

Boasts a superior record at this distance (13:8-4-0) including the Cox Plate by eight lengths and the Champions Stakes by 2.75 in the spring down south.

Wins.

Best Value: #3 Light Infantry Man ($17 at time of publish) – BET NOW

Pretty sure Via Sistina will win, but for those chasing the value and looking outside the class mare then this interstate visitor from the Maher stable brings in the big form lines from down south.

Maher chases back-to-back wins after Pride Of Jenni ran away with top honours last season, and he’ll saddle-up a nice each way hopeful with this in-form six-year-old son of Fast Company.

Two back he was excellent running a brave third behind Tom Kitten in the Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) before saluting when up in distance to post a commanding two-length win at Headquarters in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m).

Having also won Perth’s Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m) last summer, this galloper has class galore and with Ethan Brown in the saddle again he can surprise a few in Sydney.

Each Way.

Long Roughie: #8 Lindermann ($41 at time of publish) – BET NOW

Master horseman Waller has a knack for producing surprise results with his less-fancied runners when he also has a dominant favorite in the race. Following that trend, Lindermann looks incredibly enticing at 40/1 in the Queen Elizabeth.

Those odds seem way out for a horse with his credentials – a Group 1 winner over this distance who’s been consistently performing at a high level all campaign.

While he hasn’t notched a ton of wins since his Rosehill Guineas victory as a three-year-old, his strong place record makes him a worthwhile each-way bet.

He’s been super consistent this prep with four top-three finishes, including a close placing to Via Sistina in the Verry Elleegant Stakes after chasing Fangirl home in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes fresh.

A minor hiccup as the beaten odds-on favourite in the Sky High when finishing behind Vauban was followed by a clear signal he’s ready to fire, again running second to Via Sistina in the Ranvet.

This bigger field with interstate and international raiders adds complexity, but I still think he’s significantly overpriced for a place.

Place.
