Sydney ace Chris Waller will chase his fourth win in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes 2025 in Sydney on Saturday saddling-up the firm favourite Fangirl in the mile showdown.

Four elite levels will be run and won at Randwick on The Championships Day 2 including the Group 1 $1 million Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) for the fillies and mares.
Waller has prepared three past winners of the event including the past two on the trot with Atishu (2023) and Zougotcha (2024).
This year the stable’s best chance lies in Sebring six-year-old Fangirl who presents fourth up and fit this campaign as the $2.25 top elect through Ladbrokes.com.au jumping from gate six with James McDonald aboard.
The Queen Of The Turf is her most likely Saturday assignment with the mare a dual acceptor also officially in the mix for the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) where the stable’s ace female galloper, Via Sistina, is the odds-on favourite.
Fangirl has been typically outstanding in her lead-up runs including the three-time Group 1 winner running back-to-back seconds in her two latest behind Via Sistina in the Verry Elleegant and Gringotts in the George Ryder.
The form out of both those races has been subsequently franked including in last weekend’s Doncaster Mile when Stefi Magnetica improved on her sixth in the George Ryder to win Randwick’s classic mile race.
The other best in Queen Of The Turf Stakes betting also hails from the Waller camp with fellow Group 1 winning mare Atishu, who won this race two years ago, at $6 from barrier two for jockey Nash Rawiller.
The now seven-year-old daughter of Savabeel hasn’t won a race since Flemington’s Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes over this distance at Flemington last Melbourne Cup Carnival.
She has been improving each run this prep however and caught the eye last start when three lengths back fourth to Light Infantry Man at Headquarters in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) on March 29.
Atishu now returns north dropping in distance to take on her fellow mares looking to go one better than her second in last year’s race which she achieved off a third in the Australian Cup.
Surprise final acceptor, Stefi Magnetica, is also in the mix at $6 for Bjorn Baker on the quick back-up after her aforementioned Group 1 Doncaster Mile victory at the track and trip last Saturday.
The four-year-old daughter of All Too Hard celebrated her second elite level success after winning Brisbane’s famous Stradbroke Handicap last winter and the team are racing on with her this weekend.
She carted 54.5kg to victory in the Doncaster narrowly defeating Royal Patronage in a juicy trifecta, and she will need to be improving here going up to 57kg.
The widely drawn Lazzura jumping from barrier 13 of 13 is the other runner currently at single figure Queen Of The Turf Stakes odds to win.
Another in the mix for Waller, this lovely Snitzel filly is out to be the first three-year-old Queen Of The Turf Stakes winner since Alizee in 2018.
She beat the boys by a commanding margin two back in Rosehill’s Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes before her brave second when narrowly denied on Heavy going in the rescheduled Group 2 Emancipation Stakes on April 1.
Third in the Group 1 Surround Stakes against her own kind earlier this prep, she is up to this grade and is going well enough for a run in the money if she handles the outside alley.
Danny O’Brien’s runaway Group 2 Sunline Stakes champ at The Valley Grinzinger Belle ($15) and the Joe Pride trained Emancipation winning six-year-old Lekvarte ($26) are two other last start winners in this year’s Queen Of The Turf Stakes field representing the potential value.
The 2025 TAB Queen Of The Turf Stakes is set to run as Randwick Race 9 at 4:35pm (AEST) as the penultimate event on Saturday’s card.
