2021 Mackinnon Stakes Day: Flemington Scratchings & Track Report

The final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival takes place at Headquarters in Victoria today, Saturday November 6, and below we have a look at the latest Flemington race scratchings and track report ahead of the first.

The weather in Melbourne is for scattered showers but with no serious rainfall on the radar the current Good (4) Flemington track rating looks set to stay across the afternoon.

Flemington racing on Stakes Day is scheduled to kick off at 12:40pm (AEDT) with the nine-race card continuing through until 5:50pm (AEDT).

The first of the meetings Group status races runs as Race 2 at 1:15pm (AEDT) with the Group 3 $300,000 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) featuring just six stayers including Moonee Valley Gold Cup winner Lunar Flare.

A quality field of mares is engaged for the Group 2 $300,000 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) – Race 5 at 3:15pm (AEDT) – where all 15 of the final acceptors remain in the mix.

Punters are treated to a double-shot of Group 1 racing starting with Race 6 at 3:50pm (AEDT) where Chris Waller’s $15 million The Everest champion Nature Strip is odds-on favourite in a small field of nine for the $2 million Darley Sprint Classic (1200m).

Race 7 at 4:30pm (AEDT) is the Group 3 Chatham Stakes (1400m) and #12 Handle The Truth (10) and #14 Riddle Me That (13) have come out.

The meeting’s marquee race is then slated as Race 8 at 5:10pm (AEDT) with a class field gathered in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) including scratched Cox Plate favourite Zaaki.
