Caulfield racing gets underway at 12:15pm with the Listed $175,000 Magic Millions Debutant Stakes (1000m) and the bumper 10-race card continues through until the late Caulfield Cup hopefuls do battle in the Group 2 $300,000 Neds Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at 5:45pm.
Punters are treated to four Group 1 races across the card starting with Race 6 – the $1 million Caulfield Stakes running as the Neds Stakes and featuring a small field of six dominated by the Cox Plate favourite Russian Camelot ($1.50 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).
Next-up in Race 7 the fillies do battle in the Group 1 $1 million Thousand Guineas over the mile and with the scratching of #14 Yosemite (1), Chris Waller’s Flight Stakes runner-up from last weekend Hungry Heart is into $3.30 to finally shrug her placegetter status.
The meeting’s feature follows with the Group 1 $2 million Neds Caulfield Guineas (1600m) running as Race 8 at 4:30pm and Glenfiddich (8) remains the sole scratching from the field that is led in betting by Golden Rose winner Ole Kirk ($4 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).
The last of the elite levels on the program is the Group 1 $500,000 Lexus Toorak Handicap, also run over the 1600m, and all 15 original acceptors remain in play including equal favourites Junipal and Buffalo River.
