2018 Magic Millions Classic Odds Update

This Saturday at the Gold Coast Racecourse a host of top Magic Millions graduates will do battle for $2 million in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic 2018, betting a three-way battle between Jonker, Sunlight and Ef Troop.

Due to run as the Gold Coast Race 8 at 3:55pm (local time), this summer’s Restricted Listed $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) field is at capacity and it is shaping up as one of the best editions of the feature in years.

Following Tuesday morning’s barrier draw, the updated Magic Millions Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have a trio of youngsters fighting for favouritism.

Currently installed as the equal $4.40 top fancies are the undefeated David Atkins-trained Spirit Of Boom colt Jonker and Tony McEvoy’s Zoustar filly Sunlight drawn at opposite ends of the field in barriers three and 15 respectively.

Jonker was last seen saluting in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) on December 21 by over four lengths and gets the advantage on the weekend of the favourable barrier and booking of world class jockey Hugh Bowman.

The Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds on Sunlight eased out slightly immediately after the barriers were announced, but with emergencies out she will come into gate 12 and at the Gold Coast track that could play out perfectly for her and hoop Luke Currie.

A winner of two of her three career starts to date, Sunlight comes off back-to-back Gold Coast wins the latest of which was an ultra-impressive four and a half-length romp home over 1100m just last weekend.

Currie has partnered the progressive filly for all three of her runs so far and Sunlight is tipped to enjoy a drop back from 58kg last weekend to 55kg on the short back-up.

The other major player in Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic betting this Queensland Summer Racing Carnival at $4.80 is Ef Troop.

Brisbane horseman Tony Gollan saddles-up another son of Spirit Of Boom in Ef Troop who like Jonker is two-from-two coming into the race.

Both of the gelding’s wins have been at Doomben, the latest of which was a month back on December 16 when he beat home Crockett by over five lengths in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1100m).

Jockey Matthew McGillivray retains the ride on Ef Troop on Saturday and the wide barrier 18 (possibly into 13) could actually work to the advantage of the fresh two-year-old.

Outside of the dominant trio of Magic Millions 2YO Classic horses the rest of the field are all at double-figures for the win including Lindsay Park’s lightly-raced stakes winning filly Nomothaj ($10) who looks set to come into the inside barrier and Wyong Magic Millions Classic placegetter Bondi ($16) for Team Snowden who will jump from the second widest alley.
