The 2016 Caulfield Sprint nominations have been released and there is set to be plenty of talent in the Group 2 event.

Lankan Rupee has not been seen at the races since he failed to fire in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) last year and he has spent a year out of action after undergoing an operation to his off hind hock.

The Redoute’s Choice gelding has recorded five Group 1 winners during his racing career to date, but he has not won a race since he romped to victory in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on February 21.

The Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) is set to be one of the key lead-up races to the Caulfield Sprint and both Wild Rain and Redzel came out of the Group 1 event that was won by talented colt Extreme Choice.

Wild Rain produced one of the best performances of her career to date to finish third and she has an outstanding record over 1000 metres, while Redzel tired late to finish eighth.

One of the most exciting horses in the 2016 Caulfield Sprint nominations is Hellbent, who has gone to a new level since he joined the stable of Darren Weir.

Hellbent started his 2016 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a comfortable victory in the Pastry And Pieces Handicap (1005m) at Sale on September 11 before he smashed the clock to win the Mypunter.com Handicap (1100m) at Caulfield on September 24.

Our Boy Malachi has been included in the Caulfield Sprint nominations and he is set to have his first race start in Melbourne in the Group 2 event.

The popular sprinter was sent to the spelling paddock following his brave fourth in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 2 and he was only narrowly denied by Takedown in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at the same venue on October 1.

Bullpit, Faatinah, Iconic, Moshway, Orujo, Ruettiger, Take Pride, Vezalay and Viddora have also been included in the 2016 Caulfield Sprint nominations.
