Let’s Make Adeal Runs in 2015 Moonee Valley Gold Cup Field

Nigel Blackiston’s Melbourne Cup-bound mare Let’s Make Adeal is the top-rated runner in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup 2015 field on Cox Plate Day for her Moonee Valley debut this Saturday.

The six-year-old daughter of Red Ransom takes on the boys in the $250,000 Group 2 Melbourne Signage Concepts Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m), the set weights plus penalties clash running as Moonee Valley Race 6 at 3:35pm (AEST).

Eleven stayers make up the field including Let’s Make Adeal who is well-weighted under the conditions carrying just 54.5kg from a nice barrier five draw with Dom Tourneur in the saddle.

Saturday is her maiden run at Moonee Valley but she has a solid record over the distance (4-1-2-0) and is a last start winner having beaten home subsequent Caulfield Cup third placegetter Our Ivanhowe in Flemington’s Group 3 The Bart Cummings (2520m).

The Bart Cummings victory saw Let’s Make Adeal earn a ballot-free ride into this year’s $6.2 million Group 1 Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) over the two miles at Flemington on the first Tuesday of November.

She is now second on the Melbourne Cup ballot behind Murray Baker’s Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan and has 50.5kg for the ‘race that stops a nation’ after receiving a half-kilo penalty.

In the futures Melbourne Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, who are offering a juicy Best Tote or SP + 20% on every single Cox Plate Day race this Saturday, Let’s Make Adeal is rated a $41 chance.

Another exciting mare in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup field this season is the Gai Waterhouse-trained O’Reilly four-year-old Bohemian Lily in the outside alley with Kerrin McEvoy retaining the ride.

McEvoy rode her last time out at Caulfield on October 10 when the Group 2 winning mare ran a credible third behind Amralah in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) in her first Melbourne run.

Also coming via a nice Herbert Power run over the mile and a half is the Danny O’Brien-trained War Pass stallion Bondeiger, the four-year-old crossing fourth just a nose further back from Bohemian Lily.

He has had one previous 2500m run when second to Preferment in last year’s Group 1 Victoria Derby and drops from 56kg last start to only 53kg on Saturday with James Winks aboard from a gun gate two draw.

Also drawn well are the likes of the rails-drawn Like A Carousel who is out to atone for a disappointing 13th of 16 runners in The Bart Cummings last start, the Sydney Cup third placegetter over the two miles a previous winner at Saturday’s track and distance, and the Tony McEvoy-trained Big Memory (barrier three).

Other notable Moonee Valley Gold Cup runners on Saturday include the defending Darren Weir-trainer champion Prince Of Penzance who hasn’t won again since, his stablemate Taiyoo who has winning form up to 2600m, James Cummings’ veteran Zabeel 10-year-old Precedence and Robert Hickmott’s recent Naturalism Stakes runner-up The United States.
