Robert Smerdon’s four time Group 1 champion Mosheen may be more likely to run in Saturday’s Tristarc Stakes but she also leads the early entries for another Caulfield Cup Day race, the Caulfield Sprint 2012.

Howmuchdoyoulove kicks off their Patinack Farm Classic campaign on Saturday at Caulfield
The last-start Blazer Stakes winner will continue her path towards the Myer Classic during the Melbourne Cup Carnival this Saturday at Caulfield Racecourse and is a dual nominee having been entered for both the $220,000 Group 1 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) and the $220,000 Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1100m).
The first option is against her own kind over a far more suitable distance however and Mosheen is more than likely to be a defector from the Perri Cutten Caulfield Sprint 2012.
Including Mosheen just 10 horses were nominated for the Caulfield Sprint this year prompting Racing Victoria to extend nominations until 10:00am (AEST) on Tuesday.
Won last year by the since-retired super colt Sepoy the race still features some nice talent including the Peter Moody-trained mares Curtana, out to improve on a disappointing 11th in the Testa Rossa Stakes at the track on September 30, and his Stradbroke Handicap winner Mid Summer Music who ran a first-up eighth in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 6 from barrier 10 of 10.
Con Karakatsanis’ Written Tycoon four-year-old Howmuchdoyouloveme meanwhile is the only last-start winner in the Caulfield Sprint nominations, the gelding having won all three of their winter starts including the Lsited Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton on July 11 which was their fourth win from five career starts.
The return on Saturday kicking off a late spring campaign targeting the $1 million Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on Emirates Stakes Day, November 10, won the past two years but the spellbinding Black Caviar.
Other notable Caulfield Sprint hopefuls include Group 1 performer Thankgodyou’rehere who ran a good third behind Queensland star Buffering in the Group 1 AJ Moire Stakes (1200m) at the Valley last month, and Bryan Dais’ Brisbane raider Latin News.
See below for the full 2012 Caulfield Sprint nominations, the final field due for release on Wednesday.
