Headlining a cracking 10-race card as Caulfield Race 8 at 4:30pm (AEDT), this year’s $1 million Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas (1600m) features a 14-starter field.

Five of the hopefuls sit under $10 in the latest Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au including early market mover Impending ($6 into $4.80).

The John O’Shea-trained colt is bred to win being a son of the 2001 Caulfield Guineas winner Lonhro and is out to frank the Sydney form coming off a win in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.

In that lead-up run he beat home Divine Prophet by a quarter-length, the Stan Fox runner-up the next best in Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas betting at $5 to turn the tables on Saturday up over a mile.

So will the two best in betting get the job done for the punters or is there an upset Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas result pending from the likes of proven Group 1 winning Kiwi Sacred Elixir ($6.50) or last Friday night’s Stutt Stakes winner Hey Doc ($10) on the quick back-up?

Earlier in the week we published our exclusive 2016 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas Form Facts & Preview and based on the facts and stats, below are our insider tips.

Our 2016 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas Trifecta Tip is #1 Sacred Elixir from #4 Divine Prophet and #6 Saracino

1st

#1 Sacred Elixir ($6.50)

While the Sydney form has stacked up in the past two years with the Stan Fox Stakes winners backing up to take out the Caulfield Guineas, this year we are going the Melbourne line and think this smart Tony Pike-trained Kiwi can take out the Prelude – Guineas double. He is proven at a mile having blitzed the JJ Atkins field over the distance in Brisbane as a two-year-old, and his first-up win in Caulfield showed he’d returned in fine form. Will be improving second-up, has a top 57% win rate and the mid-field draw will give him the options however this plays out.

2nd

#4 Divine Prophet ($5)

The inside alley has produced more Caulfield Guineas winners than any other barrier and this season the Team Hawkes-trained Divine Prophet is out to be the next. He was brave in defeat behind Impending in the Stan Fox and should be set to peak four runs in here. First time in Melbourne so needs to handle the Caulfield track, but he is a Group 3 winner and ran third over the mile in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) in the autumn so metres will suit. He gets the run of the race and will have plenty left in the tank late.

3rd

#6 Saracino ($13)

So many livewire place chances but like the Kiwi form to stack up and think the other New Zealander in the mix can improve on the Prelude fifth last time out when only beaten a length. He won back-to-back Group 2s before that including his Australian debut at Flemington. Could be a case of him enjoying the straight, needs to handle the step up in distance but from the good barrier with Damien Oliver aboard he can surprise if the speed works in his favour.
