The season’s top-tier three-year-olds do battle in Melbourne for $3 million in prize money this weekend, and Races.com.au are here with our expert 2026 Caulfield Guineas field preview, predictions and betting odds on the Caulfield classic.

The prestigious Group 1 feature has long showcased the very best thoroughbreds, boasting an honour roll that includes Australian racing legends such as Ajax, Hydrogen, Tulloch, Storm Queen, Vain, Surround, Luskin Star, Manikato, Red Anchor, Mahogany, Redoute’s Choice, Lonhro, Weekend Hussler, and All Too Hard.
Their victories have helped cement the race’s reputation as a premier test for elite gallopers and a key milestone on the Australian racing calendar, and this year’s Caulfield Guineas 2026 field features another typically excellent line-up of young guns.
Sitting top of the latest Caulfield Guineas odds at $2.25 through Ladbrokes chasing a hat-trick is the Bjorn Baker-trained Sydney raider Warwoven.
The classy Sword Of State colt completed Sydney’s Group 2 Run To The Rose – Group 1 Golden Rose double at his latest two outings and now heads south chasing more elite level glory.
Fourth-up and rock-hard fit, Warwoven races the Melbourne way for the first time on Saturday and has plenty of market support to handle the change of direction and become the first Caulfield Guineas favourite to salute for the punters since Golden Mile ($2.70 in 2022).
Rachel King knows the progressive young star well and retains the ride this weekend from barrier six in the 11-horse field with Warwoven out to do the Golden Rose – Caulfield Guineas double for the first time since Ole Kirk (2020).
His Golden Rose triumph was sensational seeing him storm home for a three-length victory over his closest rival suggesting the step-up to 1600m won’t be an issue.
The danger on the second line of Caulfield Guineas betting paying $3.60 and also coming off back-to-back wins is Blind Raise.
Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young‘s Kiwi-bred Ace High gelding is putting together an incredible record having won four of his five starts to date and comes via a lead-up win in the traditional preparatory race having but 2.75 lengths on Tornado Valley here at the Caulfield track on September 19 in the Prelude.
No three-year-old has completed the Caulfield Guineas Prelude – Group 1 double since Helmet (2011) but the emphatic fashion of Blind Raise’s last start win, his good gate two draw for Saturday and the fact Blake Shinn sticks with are all suggestions he can break the hoodoo.
Outside of the dominant duo in the markets the other runner at single-figure Caulfield Guineas odds paying $8 for an upset is the Chris Waller-trained Tron Bolt.
Already a proven Group 1 winner having claimed a win in the wet as the odds-on favourite in Brisbane’s JJ Atkins over the winter, the colt finally gets out to a suitable trip now third-up off two runs in Sydney behind Warwoven in the Run To The Rose (7th) and Golden Rose (5th).
Having already ticked the mile box, Tron Bolt is one that appeals at the price for the Caulfield Guineas exotics, and he’ll jump from the outside alley (11) with Craig Williams coming aboard.
Waller has prepared four of the past 10 Caulfield Guineas winners including the past two on the trot with Private Life (2024) and Autumn Boy (2025).
Waller has a stranglehold on the field numbers-wise for Tron Bolt joined in the starting line-up by three of his stablemates: Central Europe ($14) who James McDonald rides, last start Group 2 Stutt Stakes winning colt at the track and trip Diameter ($27) who looks overs, and the also potentially underrated Somethings Burnin’ ($27).
A nicely bred son of Too Darn Hot, Somethings Burnin’ has been oh so consistent this prep coming off four top three runs including finishing a neck second to his stablemate in the Stutt Stakes last time out.
The early Caulfield Guineas market mover meanwhile is the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Call Me Coach ($26 into $19) with the Dundeel colt out to maintain his unbeaten record being thrown in the deep end for his first Black-Type test.
The 2026 Caulfield Guineas is set to run as Caulfield Race 8 at 4:30pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s 10-race Caulfield Guineas Day card.
