Trainer David Hayes is keen to take on the colts and gelding in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas with Catchy after the brilliant filly scored a very impressive win in the Group 2 $200,000 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington today.

Catchy beat the fillies and the colts and geldings with her win in the Group 1 $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield during the 2017 Melbourne Autumn Carnival and Hayes is not frightened to tackle the boys again.

“In that Blue Diamond you can see just how powerful she was in the last 400m and she that to the boys again today,” said Hayes who trains in partnership with his son Ben Hayes and nephew Tom Dabernig.

“At the moment she is probably favourite to the boys on in the $2 million Guineas.”

Hayes will give Catchy one more run before the Group 1 $2m Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 14 in the Group 2 $200,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on October 1.

Regan Bayliss was having his first ride on Catchy ($3.60 favourite) and wasn’t worried about settling her near the back if the field before easing her to the outside and letting wind up down the Flemington straight to overpower the opposition.

Jukebox ($8.50) stuck to his task along the inside for second with Booker ($6.50) fighting on for third.
