Gun Godolphin galloper Broadsiding heads all in betting on the Rosehill Guineas 2025 next month following the official nominations for the three-year-olds feature this season.
Nominations for a host of the autumn majors closed on Tuesday including those for the Group 1 $750,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on Golden Slipper Stakes Day.
The set weights feature attracted 95 early entries with a host of potential ATC Derby-bound three-year-olds set to face off at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday the 22nd of March.
The James Cummings trained Broadsiding is the current $3.50 firm favourite in futures Rosehill Guineas betting at Ladbrokes.com.au after a stellar season last time in that included Group 1 wins in Brisbane’s J.J. Atkins and the Group 1 Golden Rose.
A son of Too Darn Hot, Broadsiding also showed his potential with a brave third behind runaway winner Via Sistina in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate at The Valley last October.
Cummings won the Rosehill Guineas back in 2021 with cult horse Anamoe and Broadsiding is the trainer’s sole nominee for a second success in 2025.
The colts and geldings have dominated the Rosehill Guineas throughout history with Riverina Charm back in 1989 the last filly to win.
This year 17 fillies feature in the Rosehill Guineas nominations and there’s a big danger from the female contingent with Lady Shenandoah the current second favourite at $8.
Chris Waller’s daughter of Snitzel rounded out her spring with a nearly four-length romp home in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), and she is subsequently being kept safe in pre-field markets for a number of the upcoming features.
She kicks off her autumn on Saturday at Randwick in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes.
Waller has prepared four of the past seven Rosehill Guineas winners including the past two on the trot with Lindermann (2023) and Riff Rocket (2024).
He has nominated for a total of nine hopefuls this season with his other standout chance being fellow filly Aeliana who was runner-up in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (2000m) in Melbourne last November.
Outside of the strong favourite Broadsiding, the next four lines of betting on the Rosehill Guineas are occupied by fillies with Lady Of Shenandoah and Aeliana joined by Powers Of Opal and Treasurethe Moment at the top half of the markets.
The Matt Laurie trained Treasurethe Moment was huge last prep winning four on the trot including the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes and Group 1 VRC Oaks double at Flemington.
John Sargent‘s Kiwi-bred daughter of Ocean Park, Powers Of Opal, meanwhile was runner-up in the VRC Oaks which is always a strong form line for fillies heading into their next-up autumn bids.
