Toorak Update: Original top-weight #1 My Oberon (15) has been withdrawn in favour of a Sydney run in the Group 1 $5 million King Charles III Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Simon Miller‘s star Perth-trained mare Amelia’s Jewel is short priced favourite in 2023 Toorak Handicap betting at Caulfield this weekend to continue her winning ways down south this prep.

The four-year-old from WA chases her second elite level victory when taking on a quality field of potential Ladbrokes Cox Plate-bound hopefuls in the Group 1 $1 million Toorak Handicap (1600m) to close the Caulfield Guineas Day card on Saturday.
A bumper field of 17 is gathered for the mile showdown and Amelia’s Jewel sits top of the Toorak Handicap odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.20 to make it three-from-three in Melbourne this campaign.
She won the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes fresh before a second-up win in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes at The Valley over the 1600m.
Unbeaten at the distance she now takes on a tougher line-up of rivals, but with Group 1 winning form up to 1800m back in Perth when saluting in last year’s Northerly Stakes she looks more than equipped.
Her autumn campaign included a devastatingly close second to Overpass, who runs in the $20 million The Everest in Sydney on Saturday, in the $4 million The Quokka slot race.
Amelia’s Jewel is fit third-up with Damian Lane in the saddle again and the hot favourite jumps from gate 12 with 56kg looking to become the first mare since More Joyous (2010) to win the event.
Despite the size of the field just one other runner is at single-figure Toorak Handicap odds with the ultra-consistent Tony Gollan-trained Queenslander Antino at $5.50.
The Redwood five-year-old has won nine of his 11 career starts including carrying 58kg to victory last start in the Group 3 Sandown Stakes (1500m) on October 1.
He came with a surging run that day to salute by a neck, is back notably in weight to 54.5kg in the Group 1 Toorak, but will need a touch of luck drawn the far outside barrier (17 of 17).
The early Toorak Handicap market mover backed in from $15 to $11 is The Inevitable for Tassie trainer John Keys.
The raider from the Apple Isle is an evergreen eight-year-old who is best known for his third in the $5 million The All-Star Mile behind Mr Brightside, who has firmly franked that form since, back in the autumn.
He ran second to Golden Mile in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes in Sydney first-up this spring before an eighth in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick when only 2.6 lengths beaten with improvement to come.
Representing potential value is another last start winner in Pinstriped ($17).
Jockey Ben Allen continues associations aboard the Enver Jusufovic-trained son of Street Boss who boasts a 50% winning strike rate over the 1600m to date (6:3-0-0).
He brings some strong form lines into the race having run second first-up to Mr Brightside in the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at the Caulfield track before his narrow victory in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.
Pinstriped carted 59kg to victory to defeat Attrition there and comes back to 56kg in the Toorak weights.
The 2023 Toorak Handicap is set to run as Caulfield Race 10 at 5:50pm (AEDT) with the latest markets from Ladbrokes.com.au available by clicking here.
