This year’s Group 1 $3 million Neds Caulfield Guineas (1600m) runs in Melbourne on the same date as Sydney’s $20 million The Everest making for an absolutely massive day of racing across the country.

It is a tight all-in Caulfield Guineas betting market currently with three hopefuls sharing the equal top line at $5 through Ladbrokes.com.au with Militarize, King Colorado and Steparty.

Militarize is one of 11 Caulfield Guineas nominations for Sydney’s premier horseman Chris Waller who chases his third win in the event this season.

Waller has prepared two previous Caulfield Guineas champions with Press Statement (2015) and The Autumn Sun (2018).

Dual Group 1 winner Militarize is considered his best early chance in 2023 with the Inglis Sires’ – Champagne Stakes double winner from the autumn showing promising signs this spring.

First-up the Dundeel colt made up late ground to run only three-quarters of a length back fifth to Cylinder at Rosehill in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) ahead of the spring majors.

Among the other standout Caulfield Guineas nominees for Waller are his Golden Slipper winning Snitzel colt Shinzo and progressive Kiwi import Saltcoats.

The powerhouse training duo of Ciaron Maher & David Eustace also have 11 Caulfield Guineas nominees this year led by their Kingman colt King Colorado.

The Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) winner in Brisbane over the winter is proven at the distance.

He is tipped to take improvement off his first-up ninth only 2.39 lengths beaten by Fangirl when taking on the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 19.

Other early fancies for Maher & Eustace heading towards the $3 million feature include untapped Justify colt Scentify and Brave Smash colt Brave Mead.

The other equal all-in favourite at Caulfield Guineas odds of $5 is the Paul Preusker-trained Steparty who is undefeated with a flawless four-from-four record at time of publish.

The Artie Schiller colt is putting together a very nice record including celebrating his maiden Black-Type win first-up at The Valley on September 9 when saluting in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m).

Another impressive first-up winner who is Caulfield Guineas-bound this season is the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Veight who is being kept safe in pre-field markets at $7.

The Group 2 VRC Sires’ winner from the autumn caught the eye first-up atoning for his fourth when unsuited to the Heavy (9) Randwick track to in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ back in April saluting at Caulfield on September 2 in the Group 3 H.D.F. McNeil Stakes (1200m).

The other best out of the McNeil were the previously undefeated Justify filly Legacies (2nd) for Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman and the Ben, Will & JD Hayes-trained Group 1 Blue Diamond winner Little Brose (3rd) who are also both nominated for the Caulfield Guineas.

Other early standouts for the Group 1 classic include Gary Portelli’s Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality winner Encap, Godolphin’s recent Group 3 Up & Coming Stakes winner Tom Kitten, and the John O’Shea-trained Not A Single Doubt colt Cafe Millenium.

The 2023 Caulfield Guineas first acceptances close on Tuesday the 26th of September, with the latest all-in markets from Ladbrokes.com.au available by clicking here.
