The weather in Sydney is for continued showers across the day meaning there could be a downgrade to the current Soft (5) Randwick track rating as the meeting progresses.
Randwick racing gets underway at 12:25pm (AEDT) and the bumper 10-race card continues through until 6:00pm (AEDT).
Punters are treated to five Group status races on the program starting with the Group 3 $160,000 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) running as Race 6 at 3:25pm (AEDT).
The 2022 Southern Cross Stakes field is down to 11 sprinters with the scratching of Quantico (8) and the retuning The Everest fourth placed Lost And Running is favourite in the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
The three-year-old Surround Stakes-bound fillies are next-up in the Group 2 $200,000 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at 4:05pm (AEDT) where Mallory (17), Forzanini (11) and Rocklily (16) have come out.
Light Fingers Stakes 2022 betting is dominated by the undefeated Chris Waller-trained Espiona odds-on for her highly-anticipated return.
The meeting’s feature is set to run as Race 8 at 4:45pm (AEDT) with an outstanding edition of the Group 2 $250,000 Apollo Stakes (1400m) scheduled.
The Apollo Stakes 2022 field will be absent Godolphin’s reigning Doncaster Mile winner Cascadian (11) who has been scratched in favour of a run in Melbourne’s Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Apollo Stakes betting is led by Think It Over, but hot on his heels and the drawcard of the day is the resuming Melbourne Cup winning mare Verry Elleegant.
Black-Type racing comes to an end in the penultimate event with the mares facing off in the Group 3 $160,000 Triscay Stakes (1200m) and Magic Millions Fillies & Mares winner Snapdancer is favourite from the Maher/Eustace stable.
