Caulfield racing gets underway at 1:25pm (AEDT) and the eight-race card continues through until 5:45pm (AEDt) when the older mares face off in the Group 3 $200,000 Ladies’ Day Vase (1600m).
The 2021 Ladies’ Day Vase field is down to 13 at time of publish with Aidensfield (8) out and updated markets at Ladbrokes.com.au have the Symon Wilde-trained Sirileo Miss ($2.90) as the favourite chasing a hat-trick from gate eight with Linda Meech aboard.
The first Group race on the program is scheduled to run as Race 2 at 2:00pm (AEDT) with a potential eleventh-hour Caulfield Cup assignment three days later on the cards for the winner of the Group 3 $200,000 Coongy Cup (2000m).
All nine original acceptors remain in the 2021 Coongy Cup field, odds at Ladbrokes.com.au led by the in-form Floating Artist at $1.75 for the Maher/Eustace stable.
Before the Thousand Guineas moved to the card from Caulfield Guineas Day, the former headline race of the meeting was the Group 3 $200,000 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) for the Coolmore Stud Stakes-bound three-year-olds.
There are three scratchings from the 2021 Blue Sapphire Stakes field this year: Jigsaw (2), Mynumerouno (9) and Athelric (4) leaving nine in the mix led in betting by Group 1 performed Capitalist colt Profiteer ($2.40).
The meeting’s now marquee race is of course the Group 1 $1 million Thousand Guineas (1600m) running as Race 7 at 5:05pm (AEDT) and features 13 three-year-old fillies with Hinged ($3.90) the firming favourite from the Waller stable.
