A host of potential Group 1 Flight Stakes-bound fillies face off in a typically exciting edition of the Silver Shadow Stakes 2021 on Winx Stakes Day in Sydney this weekend.

A quality 10-race card runs at Royal Randwick on Saturday as Group 1 racing gets underway for the spring and one of the meeting’s headline events is the Group 2 $200,000 Darley Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m).
With Chris Waller opting to save the return of his promising daughter of I Am Invincible She’s All Class, the updated Silver Shadow Stakes field features 11 hopefuls dominated by the John Sargent-trained Four Moves Ahead.
Coming into barrier seven with Nash Rawiller aboard for her three-year-old debut, the Snitzel filly was excellent in the autumn beating She’s All Class home in late February’s Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m).
She franked that form with back-to-back Group 1 fourths in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill and $1 million Inglis Sires’ at Randwick over 1200m and 1400m respectively to see out her juvenile season.
Four Moves Ahead has been brought on fitness-wise with a late July Randwick trial and is at $2 and firming in the latest Silver Shadow Stakes odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au to kick things off with a win her way to bigger targets this Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.
The danger occupying the second line of Silver Shadow Stakes betting at $6.50 is the market mover Jamaea who went out a winner taking out the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) back in April at big odds.
Sixth in the Sweet Embrace Stakes, the Richard & Luke Price-trained daughter of Headwater improved off that to run second behind Arcaded in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes before her win during ‘The Championships’.
On the improve and still untapped, she looks a huge chance to return in style off a recent Kembla Grange trial in the wet and is drawn ideally in barrier three with Tommy Berry to pilot.
There are two other fillies under double-figures in the latest Silver Shadow Stakes markets with the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Swift Witness ($7) and Mallory ($9.50) for Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou.
Co-trainer Waterhouse chases her third win in the race since 2000 and her Star Witness filly Swift Witness is looking to atone for her failed Golden Slipper run when finishing dead last (15th) back in late March.
She was up in grade and did not handle the Soft track that day, but is expected to perform better fresh on firmer ground off two good Sydney trials including a recent 1050m winning Randwick hit-out.
Mallory meanwhile is another Golden Slipper graduate looking to finish in the money in her three-year-old debut having run ninth in the world’s richest race for two-year-olds over five months ago.
She was third in the Sweet Embrace Stakes trifecta prior to that and has also performed well in two lead-up trials at Rosehill.
The 2021 Silver Shadow Stakes is set to run as Randwick Race 6 at 2:25pm (AEST) on Saturday’s 10-race card and full markets courtesy of Ladbrokes.com.au can be found here.
