  • Weather: Overcast
  • Dual Track Meeting: N
  • Track Type: Turf
  • Track Rating: Good (4)
  • General Comment: Finalised 5/9 – 7:45am

The forecast in Melbourne is for a partly cloudy but otherwise fine day meaning the current Good (4) Moonee Valley track rating looks set to stay across the afternoon.

Racing at The Valley gets underway at 12:30pm (AEST) and the nine-race program continues through until the last at 5:20pm (AEST).

There’s a double-shot of Group racing action starting with the Group 1 Moir Stakes-bound sprinters facing off in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (Race 6) at 3:30pm where returning Blue Diamond runner-up Hanseatic ($3.50 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) takes on in-form Moonee Valley specialist Brooklyn Hustle ($3.50).

The meeting’s feature race is of course the Group 2 Ladbrokes Feehan Stakes (1600m) offering the winner a Cox Plate ballot exemption.

The 2020 Feehan Stakes field is down to eight following the early scratching of All-Star Mile winner Regal Power who is headed back to Perth due to a lung infection.

Race day betting on the Feehan Stakes has the Melbourne Cup favourite Surprise Baby ($3.20 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) as the one to beat with connections bullish over the son of Shocking ahead of his return.
