A last-start Black-Type winner in Adelaide, the in-form Parlophone is tipped to continue her winning ways and make it a hat-trick on the trot as she rises in grade for Saturday’s Quezette Stakes 2020 at Caulfield.
One of the key support acts on the P.B. Lawrence Stakes Day program in Melbourne this weekend, the Group 3 $160,000 Quezette Stakes (1100m) drew a bumper field of 14 three-year-old fillies this season.
Clear favourite in Quezette Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is the Mick Price & Michael Kent Junior-trained Parlophone in a midfield barrier six draw.
The gun young daughter of I Am Invincible has a 50% winning strike rate from four starts having broken her maiden status on a mud Sandown track over 1000m in June before winning the Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) a month later at Morphettville.
She only carried 52kg in the Lightning, but Parlophone was still eye-catching flying home for a three-length success that she currently pays a short $2.50 through Ladbrokes.com.au to emulate in the Group 3 this weekend.
Despite the size of the field just two other fillies in Quezette Stakes betting are under $10 for the win with the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Fresh ($6.50) and Bella Nipotina ($9) for Tom Dabernig & Ben Hayes considered the dangers.
Having her fourth run in the Quezette, Fastnet Rock filly Fresh presents well first-up having won her debut at Geelong back in early January defeating Blue Diamond Stakes third placegetter Personal by three lengths.
Fresh meanwhile didn’t make it to the Group 1 Blue Diamond when things went amiss for her when she crossed dead last in the Prelude race on the back of a second in the Preview.
She’s been well cared for since and looks a strong chance to return to where she was before the Prelude mishap with Damian Lane booked to ride.
Bella Nipotina meanwhile jumps one closer to the fence in barrier seven, the daughter of Pride Of Dubai still a maiden after seven starts.
She may be yet to cross the winning post first, but in all seven runs she has finished either second or fourth including her fourth to Hungry Heart in Randwick’s Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes during the autumn.
The value runners in the Quezette Stakes field include the likes of Agreeable ($10) coming off her winning debut at Geelong from May 29, the rails-drawn River Night ($16) who won the listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1000m) here in mid-March and Craig Williams’ mount Icantoo ($12) drawn out in barrier 12.
