2020 Premier’s Cup Day: Doomben Scratchings & Track Report

The action of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival continues in Brisbane today, Saturday June 27, with a rescheduled Premier’s Cup Day 2020 line-up and below are the official Doomben scratchings and track report for the dual Group 3 race meet.

The forecast is clear in Brisbane today with clear skies and no chance of any serious rainfall meaning the current Soft (5) Doomben track rating could be upgraded as the day progresses.

Doomben racing kicks off at 11:43am and the nine-race card continues through until the last at 4:34pm.

There are three Black-Type winter features on the program starting with the marquee race of the day, the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m) taking place as Doomben Race 5 at 2:03pm.

The 2020 Premier’s Cup field for the stayers is down to nine runners following the withdrawal of the Matthew Smith-trained Sweet Thomas (6) and is dominated by five Chris Waller runners led in betting by Ocean Park mare Another Dollar ($4.40 @ Ladbrokes.com.au).

Race 7 sees nine remaining sprinters in the Listed Spear Chief Handicap (1350m) where the in-form topweight, Scallopini ($3.20 @ Ladbrokes.com.au), leads the markets having wont he Listed Hinkler Handicap (1100m) at the track two back.

The penultimate race on the program is Race 8 at 4:00pm where a dozen classy female gallopers face off in the Group 3 Sapphire Stakes (1630m) over the mile, the David Vandyke-trained Baccarat Baby ($3.60 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) the firming favourite despite a wide draw (11).
