The Sunshine Coast Turf Club is host to the latest Queensland Winter Racing Carnival feature meet today with Caloundra Cup Day 2019, scratchings and the latest track report for which are detailed below.

The Sunshine Coast track rating is currently a Heavy (10) making the Cup Day meet one for the proven wet-trackers and mudlarks. There is also a chance of scattered showers across the afternoon so there looks little chance of an upgrade.

The wet Caloundra track has also forced 39 official pre-race scratchings including the Rex Lipp-trained Takotsubo out of the Group 3 $140,000 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m).

The updated Sunshine Coast Guineas 2019 field features 15 runners with David Vandyke’s local filly, back in grade from her unplaced Group 1 Tiara run last weekend, the clear $3.20 favourite through Ladbrokes.com.au.

The day’s marquee race is of course Race 7 at 4:33pm (AEST) with three scratchings from the Listed $175,000 Kendrick Racing Caloundra Cup (2400m).

There are 12 remaining Caloundra Cup horses after the withdrawal of Mazaz (2), Ruby Guru (9) and Heart Of Toorak (8) and the bookies are tipping Big Duke ($2.50) to break his winning drought.

The third Black-Type feature on the program and the penultimate event of the day is then the Listed $175,000 Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) where 17 runners will take to the track including Kris Lees’ emergency Intrinsic.
