Bellevue Hill was an emergency for the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 23 but failed to gain a start but then scored his second win from three race start in the Group 3 $160,000 The Schweppervescence (1400m).

Tulloch Lodge co-trainer Adrian Bott said that the stable was disappointed that Bellevue Hill missed a start in the Golden Slipper, but is looking forward to giving the Pierro colt his chance at Group 1 glory in the Inglis Sires’ this Saturday.

“If he pulls up well, the plan is to start him next Saturday in the Sires,’’ Bott told The Sunday Telegraph.

Winning jockey Tim Clark had a harmless tumble from Bellevue Hill on his way back to the winner’s stall, but still had plenty of praise for the all the way winner.

“It was a very good win from a really progressive colt,” Clark said.

“Eight weeks ago no one had heard of Bellevue Hill but he has just kept improving.’’

Bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au have the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Bellevue Hill sharing the second line of betting at $7.50 with Victorian filly Loving Gaby behind the $6 joint favourites Castelvecchio and Microphone.

The Richard Litt trained Castelvecchio showed his potential with a last to first win in the $2m Inglis Millennium (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 9 before running third to Microphone in the Group 2 $200,000 Schweppes Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 2.

Litt has kept Castelvecchio up to the mark with a nice fourth in a recent 1045m Randwick barrier trial while the James Cummings trained Microphone is coming off a second to stablemate Kiamichi in the Golden Slipper.

Early betting for the 2019 Inglis Sires’ at Ladbrokes.com.au: $6 Castelvecchio, Microphone, $7.50 Bellevue Hill, Loving Gaby, $9 Probabeel, $11 Tenley, $13 Kiamichi, $17 Crystal Falls, Starsbourg, Born A Warrior, Time To Reign, Dresden Green, $26 Hightail, Dubious, Faretti, Fortress Command, Villami, $31 Lankan Star, Starla, Stronger, Varda, $41 or better the rest.
