The Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes 2018 has drawn a bumper 235 two-year-olds including the best in Golden Slipper betting this autumn.

Racing NSW took all the major ‘The Championships’ race nominations on Monday including those for the Group 1 $1 million ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), known as the Inglis Sires’ and run on April 7 at Royal Randwick.

The ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes field traditionally attracts the best out of the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, the Group 1 $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m), and the bookies are tipping that to be true again in 2018.

The Golden Slipper – Sires’ Produce double was last completed by Pierro (2012) and the early favourites to take out the former at Rosehill Gardens on March 24 all feature in the entries for the latter this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Current favourite in Golden Slipper odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $6 for the win is the Tony McEvoy-trained Zoustar filly Sunlight.

A winner of three of her four starts to date she was last seen winning the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast in mid-January.

Should she progress onto the Sires’ Produce this April, Sunlight will be looking to add to the gun recent record of fillies in the race with recent victories from Yosei (2010), Guelph (2013), Peggy Jean (2014) and Yankee Rose (2016).

Other notable Sires’ Produce-nominated fillies this year include the undefeated Avantage from the Kiwi stables of Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards who has won all four of her starts back home in New Zealand, the Lindsay Park-trained Blue Diamond Prelude winner Enbihaar, their first-up Chairman’s Stakes winner at Caulfield Ennis Hill and Chris Waller’s first-up Group 3 Widden Stakes winner Fiesta.

Following Sunlight in futures Golden Slipper Stakes betting meanwhile at $7 is Performer who is also tipped to continue onto the ATC Sires’.

Waller prepares the Exceed And Excel colt who has won both his career starts so far, most recently first-up at Rosehill on March 3 in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m).

Other top fancies in early ATC Sires’ Produce odds at the Aussie bookies include Peter & Paul Snowden’s Canonbury Stakes runner-up Stratopshere, Godolphin-raced Lonhro colt Plague Stone who ran second in the Blue Diamond C&G Prelude last Saturday and stablemate Gongs who is an unbeaten Dawn Approach filly on the improve.

The Inglis Sires’ 2018 Produce nominations also include the likes of Tony Gollan’s Brisbane-trained Magic Millions Classic fourth placegetter Ef Troop, runner-up in the same Sunlight-won classic Fullazaboot from the Sunshine Coast, unbeaten colt Long Leaf and the current 2018 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes favourite Kinky Boom.

The Inglis ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes first acceptances will be taken on Tuesday March 13, 2018.
