Scheduled as the penultimate event on the Doomben card in Brisbane this weekend, the $500,000 Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) is set to run with a capacity line-up of 16 fillies and mares.
The firming favourite in the Tattersall’s Tiara odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $2.80 to salute for the punters is the Benjamin Smith-trained In Her Time.
She was last seen running a close second from an awkward gate at the track and distance in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) a fortnight back, a race that last produced a Tiara winner in 2015 when Srikandi did the double.
In Her Time is in flying form, out to be the third favourite in four years to salute in the Tattersall’s Tiara results and the money is coming in thick and fast.
Despite the size of the field there are just two other hopefuls under $10 in the latest Tattersall’s Tiara betting markets with last start winners Prompt Response ($6) and Eckstein ($9.50).
There’s been a notable drift on almost everything else in the race opening up the value in the likes of the Bjorn Baker-trained duo of Egyptian Symbol ($10 out to $14) and Bonny O’Reilly ($8.50 out to $10).
Earlier we published our comprehensive Tattersall’s Tiara 2017 Form Guide & Betting Preview, tips based the facts uncovered there published below.

#14 Prompt Response ($6)
Happy to tip the Dane Ripper Stakes form to stack up and get behind this Gai Waterhouse-trained filly to do the double. The last Tatt’s Tiara winning filly was Cosmic Endeavour (2014), also Waterhouse-trained, who won the Dane Ripper in the lead-up. The three-year-olds have a gun recent record against the older mares in this race and with so many of the top fancies drawn wide, barrier eight (into six) is a big plus for this in-form youngster.
2nd
#16 Rare Occurrence ($51)
Huge price offered for Stuart Kendrick’s Sunshine Coast-trained Star Witness filly who has a brilliant Doomben record (9-4-0-1). She’s the track specialist in the mix and is unbeaten at the course and distance. She is up notably in grade and that’s the test. She was only a quarter-length beaten here in the Listed Daybreak Lover (1200m) on Stradbroke Day and will eat-up the extra distance. Is two-from-three over these metres and handles a soft track. Drawn well and ticks too many boxes to rule out if she steps-up to the company.
3rd
#3 In Her Time ($2.80)
The punters are backing In Her Time like there’s nothing else in the race and there’s no doubt she’ll take some beating. She looked the Stradbroke winner until the colt ran her down late and gets the chance to atone with a Group 1 on Saturday. It was a tough three-wide run a fortnight back and chances are she could get caught out again with work to do from another nasty barrier. Still, she’s the class mare in the mix and could just go all-the-way.
